SV-ADSB-470 Installation, Configuration, and TestingRecord the SkyView serial port that you have chosen on each display as you will need toconfigure it later for use with the SV-ADSB-470.The SV-ADSB-470 communicates with the SkyView system using serial ports, notSkyView Network. Thus, the SV-ADSB-470 will not be listed as a device in the list ofSkyview Network devices (such as SV-ADAHRS-20x, SV-EMS-220, etc.) This isnormal.Antenna Selection and InstallationThe SV-ADSB-470 requires its own antenna; it cannot share the transponder’s antenna. Theselected antenna should be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A UATspecificantenna or a transponder antenna may be used with the SV-ADSB-470. It should also be well removed from landing gear doors, access doors orothers openings which will break the ground plane for the antenna.The antenna should be mounted on the bottom surface of the aircraft and in a verticalposition when the aircraft is in level flight.Where practical, plan the antenna location to keep the cable lengths as short as possibleand avoid sharp bends in the cable to minimize the VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio).The SV-ADSB-470 antenna should not be installed within 2 feet (24 inches) of thetransponder antenna.Antenna Ground PlaneWhen a conventional aircraft monopole antenna is used it relies on a ground plane for correctbehaviour. For ideal performance the ground plane should be very large compared to thewavelength of reception, which is 305 mm.
