Tools and Equipment RequiredSV-EMS-220/221 Installation and ConfigurationThe following list contains commonly used tools and equipment, however some of the tools orequipment listed below may not apply to your installation.Wire strippers22 AWG wireD-sub pin crimperFaston/ring terminal crimp toolo Available from www.bandcspecialty.com – (316) 283-8000 – part number RCT-1Weather Pack crimp tool (common slip joint pliers will also work)o Available from www.whiteproducts.com/tools.shtml#2 Phillips screwdriverFlathead screwdriver¼” ID tubes, any necessary adapters, and clamps for routing manifold pressure to thesensor.Drill and 1/8” bitVoltmeter InputsPins 1 and/or Pin 2 of the EMS D37 connector can be used to monitor voltage in your electricalsystem (or any other DC voltage source) from 10-30V DC. Connect either of the pins to a pointin your electrical system that you wish to monitor.Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) ProbesWire length of CHT/EGT harnesses supplied by Dynon is not critical. It is acceptableto cut the thermocouple (brown) wire of the CHT/EGT harness to shorten theappropriate length for your installation. It is recommended to not cut the“armored” portion of the cable near the probe end of the CHT or EGT probes. The EGT wire may be extended as well, provided that:1) Type K thermocouple is used for the extension wire. (this is different than CHTwire)2) There is no temperature change across the connection between the junctionthat is created. For example, do not create a junction across the firewall. If either of the above guidelines are not followed, your EGT readings will beincorrect.Correct placement of EGT probes on the exhaust manifold - per the engine manufacturer’sguidance - is critical to obtaining accurate readings. Placement differs between engine typesand even specific models. All thermocouple harnesses supplied by Dynon have each function(e.g., CHT1, EGT1) labeled on each thermocouple pair.SkyView System Installation Guide - Revision O 7-29
