Alessandro Papetti: New PaintingsBUSCHLEN MOWATT GALLERY, VANCOUVER BC – Nov 1-30 A new series by Italian expressionistpainter Alessandro Papetti continues his exploration of movement and light. Papetti attempts to“capture” a moment on canvas in the same way that a camera does, in a fraction of a second.Papetti himself has described his artistic production as a record of what happens in the time andspace between two different events – whether a change in point of view, a change caused by thepassing of time, or a re-positioning of a subject. His masterful brushwork seeks elusive glimpses ofcity streets and bridges, the pose of a model, theenergy of shipping yards, and the expansivevolume of cargo ships. The works reveal anintimate, shifting balance between chaos andcalm.Papetti lives and works in his birth city,Milan. He first exhibited in Milan in 1987 andsince 1995, has divided his time between Milanand Paris. Largely self-taught, he has relied uponhis own curiosity, observation and research todevelop his passion. He has now painted for 21years and has had dozens of internationalexhibits.Papetti’s mesmerizing work has beenpreviewwww.buschlenmowatt.comAlessandro Papetti, Paris (2006), oil on linen [Buschlen MowattGallery, Vancouver BC, Nov 1-30]described as demonstrating “intuitive self-possession’, “dazzling bravura” and “a palpable, vividsense of the brilliant presence of a whirlpool of energy that illuminates things”.
