MDCStore Database and File Server UpdatesPrerequisitesBefore you begin, you must:1. Make sure your system meets the requirements in Chapter 1Overview and Requirements on page 7.2. Verify that the MDCStore database is at version 2 or later, andthat it is installed and configured as described in the MDCStoreDatabase and File Server Solution User Guide.CAUTION! The tablespace of the MDCStore database must be allowed toexpand past its initial size, since the database might grow significantly.Molecular Devices recommends starting with 2 GB of space andinstalling the database on a dedicated data partition, not on theprimary drive. Using external hard drives is not recommended becausethey can be easily turned off, which prevents access to the data.3. Install the MetaXpress PowerCore server application on theMetaXpress PowerCore server as described in Chapter 2MetaXpress PowerCore Server Installation and Configuration onpage 11.4. Back up your existing database and images.Updating the MDCStore Database Schema fromVersion 2.0 or laterUpdating the MDCStore database schema from version 2.0 to version2.1 or later adds a column to the table that handles the MetaXpressAuto Run Queue.Note: Existing data is not affected by the update, however you shouldback up your database before you update it.Choosing the Appropriate InstallerThe MetaXpress Data Manager database schema installer is available in32-bit and 64-bit versions.
