MDCStore Database <strong>and</strong> File ServerUpdates3IntroductionThe MDCStore database stores:• Images or the location of images acquired using ImageXpress ®imaging instruments.• The analysis <strong>and</strong> acquisition settings as well as the results of theanalysis of these images with <strong>MetaXpress</strong> ® Software applicationmodules <strong>and</strong> journals.• AcuityXpress Software data mining results.To use the <strong>MetaXpress</strong> ® <strong>PowerCore</strong> Software with the MDCStoredatabase, you must update the database schema as described in thissection. In addition, the MDCStore database should be running on anetworked computer. Molecular Devices recommends that you do notrun the MDCStore database on the computer that hosts the <strong>MetaXpress</strong><strong>PowerCore</strong> server or <strong>MetaXpress</strong> <strong>PowerCore</strong> client. For additionalinformation, see Computer <strong>and</strong> Server Specifications for AcuityXpressor <strong>MetaXpress</strong> Offline Analysis.If you are using an older version of the MDC File Server application,update that application as described in this section.CAUTION! To get the best performance from the <strong>MetaXpress</strong> <strong>PowerCore</strong>Software, a database administrator, with the proper expertise, mustconfigure <strong>and</strong> optimize, or tune, your database for your facility. If youdo not have a database administrator, contact Molecular Devices for alist of consultants. In addition, the database-related information in thisdocument is provided for guidance only. Molecular Devices is notresponsible for damage to existing user data due to network problems,power failure, or unexpected termination of the database.
