992 RUGGERO MARIA SANTILLIibly the existence of a world wide organized scientific crime intent in suppressingundesired human knowledge, thus perpetrating a crime against mankind.Figure 6.26. A view of the Italian priest-physicist Don Carlo Borghi, originally of the Universityof Milano, who dedicated his research life to theoretical and experimental studies on Rutherford’slegacy, namely, to the study of the neutron as a bound state of a proton and an electron. Itappears that Don Borghi had indeed a fulfilling religious life, but his studies on the neutron wereopposed by the organized scientific crime in Italy of the 1960s to such an extent, he had to leaveItaly and conduct experiment [116,117] in Brazil. The theoretical papers by Don Borghi andhis associates on the neutron structure lack the advanced mathematical knowledge needed for aconsistent quantitative study of the problem. As such, these theoretical studies are inconclusiveand left for inspection to interested historians. However, no matter what its final interpretationwill be, Don Borghi’s test [116,117] deserves indeed the historical priority of being the firstexperiment on the laboratory synthesis of neutrons from protons and electrons.Any person with a minimum of dignity and care for human knowledge shouldadmit that a condition of the above type cannot continue indefinitely withoutinflicting severe damages to society. Somebody, somehow, somewhere has to
