It was also noted that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re was a need for publicati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> GNSS-related materials inlanguages o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r than English.559. The nati<strong>on</strong>al, regi<strong>on</strong>al and internati<strong>on</strong>al symposia and o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r events <strong>on</strong> development andapplicati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> modern space technologies organised by nati<strong>on</strong>al, regi<strong>on</strong>al and internati<strong>on</strong>alassociati<strong>on</strong>s and organizati<strong>on</strong>s could be c<strong>on</strong>sidered as a way for increasing <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> awareness andqualificati<strong>on</strong> to be supported by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> United Nati<strong>on</strong>s (for example, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> annual symposium in S<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ia,Bulgaria).Recommendati<strong>on</strong> 5.Help should be given in promoting <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> use <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> GNSS.560. The Reports <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> United Nati<strong>on</strong>s/United States <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> America regi<strong>on</strong>al workshops <strong>on</strong>GNSS (A/AC.105/771, A/AC.105/776, A/AC.105/785 and Corr.1 and A/AC.105/795) should bedistributed, through <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ficial United Nati<strong>on</strong>s channels, in particular to Governments <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> developingcountries. This would assist in promoting GNSS applicati<strong>on</strong>s.C. Recommendati<strong>on</strong>s specific to GNSS applicati<strong>on</strong>sAviati<strong>on</strong>561. ICAO and its Planning and Implementati<strong>on</strong> Regi<strong>on</strong>al Groups (PIRGs) c<strong>on</strong>tinue todevelop necessary provisi<strong>on</strong>s and implementati<strong>on</strong> efforts that could support seamless GNSSguidance for all phases <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> flight and facilitate transiti<strong>on</strong> to <strong>satellite</strong>-based sole navigati<strong>on</strong> service, with due c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> safety <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> flight, technical, operati<strong>on</strong>al and ec<strong>on</strong>omic factors.562. Air navigati<strong>on</strong> service providers are encouraged to move rapidly, in co-ordinati<strong>on</strong> withairspace users, with a view to achieving, as so<strong>on</strong> as possible, worldwide navigati<strong>on</strong> capability toat least approach with vertical guidance (APV) performance. States and airspace users take note<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> available and upcoming SBAS navigati<strong>on</strong> services providing for APV operati<strong>on</strong>s and takenecessary steps towards installati<strong>on</strong> and certificati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> SBAS capable avi<strong>on</strong>ics.563. States that develop and introduce <strong>satellite</strong>-based augmentati<strong>on</strong> <strong>systems</strong> and o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r SBASservice providers are encouraged to provide <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir technical and financial support and participati<strong>on</strong>in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> activities leading to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> extensi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir SBAS service areas into neighbouring States andregi<strong>on</strong>s. States participating in SBAS implementati<strong>on</strong> activities co-ordinate with o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rparticipating States to optimize <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir effort, minimize duplicati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> service and facilitateparticipati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> service providers.Recommendati<strong>on</strong> 1.Research should be encouraged into <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> i<strong>on</strong>osphericmodels, including measurements related to GNSS, as also <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> exchange<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> related informati<strong>on</strong>.103
