As a result,engineers and designers are increasingly beingrequired to specify anchors designed and testedto meet the new requirements of the code. The2006 IBC requires that Ultimate Strength Designmethodology be used when designing structuralanchorages within buildings and other structures.This affects how and when post-installed concreteanchors are specifi ed and what products will besuitable for use.When designing concrete anchorages, designersare now being required to consider, among otherthings, whether conditions exist that may causethe concrete to crack.
