Concrete Connectors & AnchorsConcrete Connectors & AnchorsMAS/MASA/MASAP/MASB/MASP Mudsill AnchorsThis product is preferable to similar connectors becauseof a) easier installation, b) higher loads, c) lowerinstalled cost, or a combination of these features.MAS style mudsill anchors are easy to install for boththe concrete and framing contractor. They are suitable for eitherstemwall or slab foundations and easily mount on the forms beforethe pour, simplifying finishing and reducing anchor mislocationproblems. The MAS eliminates the need to drill the mudsill and canbe installed three different ways to provide flexibility when studplacement or sheathing becomes an issue (see table below). The new and improved MASA/P provides the installationadvantages of mudsill anchors combined with the maximumallowable on-center spacing. The new stronger design providesparallel-to-wall load carrying capacity that meets or exceedsmost cast-in-place anchors. This allows for a one-to-onereplacement of ¹⁄₂" bolts on 2x or 3x sills and ⁵⁄₈" bolts on a 2x sill. The different models of mudsill anchors are designedfor specific applications:MAS/MASA—installed at the top of the formMASP/MASAP—for panelized formsMASB—used in concrete masonry units.MATERIAL: 16 gaugeFINISH: Galvanized, all available in ZMAX ® coating.See Corrosion Information, page 10-11.INSTALLATION: • Use all specified fasteners. See General Notes.• MAS/MASP/MASA/MASAP- Concrete shall have a minimum f'c = 2500 psi.- Spalling—Full published capacity is achieved so long asa maximum height of 1¹⁄₄" and a maximum depth of ⁷⁄₈" isnot exceeded. Any exposed portion of the mudsill anchormust be protected against possible corrosion.- For prescriptive anchor spacing refer to page 23.- Testing shows that these mudsill anchors can be used inlieu of code required anchor bolts and square washer inhigh seismic zones. Refer to technical bulletin T-MASSWfor additional information (see page 191 for details).• MASB—Fill CMU cell with concrete grout first, then placeMASB into the grouted cell and adjust into position. Attachmudsill to anchor only after the concrete grout cures.- CMU shall have a minimum f'm = 1500 psi.- The MASB Mudsill Anchors were tested in standard 8" CMU.CODES: See page 12 for Code Reference Key Chart.4"Typical MASA Installation in Concrete(MAS similar)2x4, 2x6,3x4 or 3x6MudsillEmbedment line(Top of concrete)MASA4"Allowable loadsreduced for one leginstalled vertical(see table)3"TypicalMASA/MASAPInstallation on Sill Plate(MAS/MASP similar)MASEmbedment line(Top of concrete)MASAP(MASP similar)Typical MASAPInstallation in Concrete(MASP similar)22These products are available with additional corrosion protection.
