According tothe PineBluff Commercial, however, the electronicballots presented to voters in these towns onlyallowed them to vote <strong>for</strong> candidates of the ward inwhich the voters were registered. The CountyElection Commission discovered and fixed the errorby, among other things, using paper ballots <strong>for</strong> thealdermen races. Voters who had already cast earlyballots, however, could not re-vote without a courtorder. 299Faulkner County, ARThe Log Cabin Democrat reported that the initialresult of the House District 45 election in FaulknerCounty was incorrect. The mistake was reportedlythe result of three cartridges not being included inthe vote tally (i.e., human error) and an error in avoting machine that caused votes from another raceto be included in the House District 45 race. Localofficials were unsure whether human error or amachine malfunction caused the mistake with themachine. 300Benton County, ARThe Benton County Daily Record reported that anumber of the Benton County polling sites hadproblems with their electronic voting machines,including failure of the machines to boot up. Manysites used paper ballots until the machines were fixed.Results of the election were not compromised. 301Faulkner County, ARThe Log Cabin Democrat reported that when a voterreviewed the voting machine printout after castingher ballot, she discovered only a short horizontal lineand a long vertical line.
