The <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray device consists of thefollowing parts:IMPORTANT: PLEASE READNozzleFinger GripBlue Plunger• Block one nostril by pressing a finger firmly on the side ofyour nose, and breathe out gently through your mouth.The Nozzle: This is the part that you put into yournostril. The spray comes out of a tiny hole in the top.The Finger-Grip: This is the part that you hold whenyou use the device.The Blue Plunger: When you press the plunger theentire dose sprays into your nostril. The Plunger onlyworks once so do not press it until you have inserted thenozzle into your nostril or you will waste the dose.How to use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal SprayDo not remove the nasal spray device from the blisterpackaging until you are ready to use it.• Blow your nose if it feels blocked.• Put the nozzle of the nasal spray device into your other nostril,as far as it feels comfortable.• Hold your head in an upright position, looking straight aheadand close your mouth. Do not tilt your head and do not liedown.• Start to breathe in gently through your nose and at the sametime press the blue plunger firmly with your thumb. This willspray the entire dose into your nostril.Note: The plunger may feel a bit stiff and you may hear itclick.• Peel open a blister pack and take out a nasal spraydevice.• Hold the nasal spray device gently with your fingersand thumb as shown in the picture. DO NOT press theblue plunger yet.• Keep your head upright, looking straight ahead, and breathe ingently through your nose and out through your mouth for 10-20 seconds. DO NOT BREATHE DEEPLY; this helps themedicine stay in your nose so that it can be absorbed into yourbody. You can remove the device and your finger from theother side of your nose while you do this.• Your nose may feel wet inside and you may notice a slighttaste after using the spray - this is normal and will soon pass.• Your nasal spray device is now empty. For most patients these side effects are likely tobe minor and temporary. However, some may beserious. Consult your doctor if you experience these orother side effects.The most commonly reported side effects of<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray are:• pain, pressure or tightness in any part of the body,including chest and throat• sensations of heaviness• unusual sensations including numbness, tingling,heat/burning or cold• flushing (redness of the face lasting for a short time)• feeling sick or vomiting• dizziness• drowsiness• tiredness• weakness• a slight taste after using the nasal spray that is normaland will pass soonAs drowsiness may occur as a result of using<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray, do not drive or operatemachinery until you are sure that you are not drowsy.Other side effects include:• unusually slow or fast heartbeats, a feeling ofirregular and/or forceful heartbeats• visual disturbances, usually temporary (scotoma,nystagmus, flickering, diplopia; usually temporary).• dystonia, (shaking, tremors or uncontrolledmovements)• loss of normal colouration in the fingers and toes.Tell your doctor of these symptoms at your next visit.Very rarely, some people have reported the followingmore serious side effects.
