Use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray only totreat an actual migraine headache attack.If you use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray too often, it maymake your headaches worse. If this happens, yourdoctor may tell you to stop using <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® NasalSpray.The Use of <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray DuringPregnancy:Do not use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray if you are pregnant,think you might be pregnant, are trying to becomepregnant, or are not using adequate contraception,unless you have discussed this with your doctor.INTERACTIONS WITH THIS MEDICATIONDo not use <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray if you are taking orhave recently taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitors(MAOI) in the last 2 weeks, or any migrainemedications containing ergotamine, ergot derivatives(such as dihydroergotamine, or methysergide), or othertriptans used to treat migraine within 24 hours.You should tell your doctor if you are taking or haverecently taken any other medications (prescription, nonprescriptionor natural/herbal), before you start taking<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray, especially any antidepressantssuch as SSRIs and certain tricyclics.PROPER USE OF THIS MEDICATIONThe label on the container of your medicine or theleaflet inside should tell you how often to take a doseand the amount you should take in each dose. If it doesnot or you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.DO NOT take more medicine or take your medicinemore often than you are told.Usual dose:NASAL SPRAY:DO NOT test the spray before using. Unlike other nasal spraysyou may have used, <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray comes ready touse.Adults: Use 1 spray in 1 nostril ONLY as directed by yourdoctor. If the first nasal spray does not relieve your headache donot take a further dose of sumatriptan for the same attack.However, you may take pain medication other than ergotaminecontainingpreparations for further pain relief. Sumatriptan maybe taken for subsequent attacks.<strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray can be taken at any time during yourmigraine headache.A second nasal spray can be taken if your symptoms come backprovided 2 hours have passed since the last dose. Do not takemore than 40 mg in any 24-hour period.Overdose:In case of drug overdose, contact a health carepractitioner, hospital emergency department or regionalPoison Control Centre immediately, even if there are nosymptoms.INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF YOUR <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® NASALSPRAYThe Nasal Spray Pack• Your <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray is packed in a box containingthe nasal spray devices individually sealed in blisters. Eachdevice contains one dose of <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® .• Do not open a blister until you are ready to use yourmedication. Each nasal spray device is sealed in a blister tohelp keep it clean and safe. If you carry a nasal spray devicearound out of the blister, or in an open blister, it may not workproperly when you need it.• Keep your <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Nasal Spray in the box to help protect itfrom light and damage. If you want to carry only one nasalspray device around with you, you may split the blister pack intwo.• Keep this information leaflet in a safe place.
