IMPORTANT: PLEASE REA<strong>DF</strong>igure 12How to Remove the Used Cartridge Pack• When both doses have been used, the cartridge pack should beremoved from the carrying case (see Figure 15).Figure 15Figure 13• Open the carrying case lid.• Pull the empty <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ® out of thecartridge pack and close the lid over the used syringecartridge.Note: Because the device has now been used, thewhite plunger rod will stick out from the lower end ofthe <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ® .• Put the <strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ® back into thecarrying case and press down firmly until you feel itclick.• Hold the carrying case and press the two blue buttons, whichare located on either side of the carrying case, with one hand.• Gently pull out the cartridge pack with the other hand. Whenproperly inserted, the syringe cartridges are in a disposable,protective case intended to avoid possible needle sticks ormisuse of syringes (see Figure 16). Insert a new cartridgepack.Figure 16• Close the carrying case lid. If the lid does not close,you have not primed the device for next use. Push thepen down until you feel it click, and then close the lid(see Figure 14).Figure 14SIDE EFFECTS AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEMLike all medications, <strong>IMITREX</strong> ® Injection can cause some sideeffects. You may not experience any of them. For most patientsthese side effects are likely to be minor and temporary.However, some may be serious. Consult your doctor if youexperience these or other side effects.Note: This action primes the spring mechanism in the<strong>IMITREX</strong> STATdose Pen ® for the next use.• After both syringe cartridges have been used, removethe cartridge pack and discard.• NEVER ATTEMPT TO REUSE A SYRINGECARTRIDGE.The most commonly reported side effects of <strong>IMITREX</strong> ®Injection are:• pain, pressure or tightness in any part of the body, includingchest and throat• sensations of heaviness• unusual sensations including numbness, tingling, heat/burningor cold• flushing (redness of the face lasting for a short time)• feeling sick or vomiting• dizzinessOctober 21, 2014Page 51 of 58
