IMPORTANT: PLEASE READFigure 6How to Use the IMITREX STATdose Pen ® Autoinjector• Before injecting, identify an area with an adequate fatty tissuelayer (for example, on the outside of the thigh or in the upperarm).• Clean the skin area to be injected.• To inject, press the loaded IMITREX STATdose Pen ®autoinjector against the skin so that the grey section slidesdown to the blue section. This releases the safety catch.• Grasping the ridges, pull the loaded IMITREXSTATdose Pen ® straight out. You may feel someresistance; again be careful not to press the bluebutton (see Figure 7).Figure 7• While holding the IMITREX STATdose Pen ® against the skin,firmly push the blue button. Then hold the IMITREXSTATdose Pen ® still for at least 5 seconds. If the IMITREXSTATdose Pen ® is removed from the skin too soon, not all ofthe medicine will be released (see Figures 9 and 10).Figure 9Figure 10• The IMITREX STATdose Pen ® is now loaded andready for use.• Do not try to put the loaded IMITREX STATdosePen ® back into the carrying case as this will damagethe needle.Note: A safety feature is provided that preventsaccidental firing until you are ready. The needle will be showing. Whenproperly inserted, the syringe cartridges are in a disposable,protective case intended to avoid possible needle sticks ormisuse of syringes (see Figure 16). Insert a new cartridgepack.Figure 16• Close the carrying case lid. If the lid does not close,you have not primed the device for next use. Push thepen down until you feel it click, and then close the lid(see Figure 14).Figure 14SIDE EFFECTS AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEMLike all medications, IMITREX ® Injection can cause some sideeffects. You may not experience any of them. For most patientsthese side effects are likely to be minor and temporary.However, some may be serious.
