Paris, Texas (based ona script by Sam Shepard) heralded a change in his work and instead <strong>of</strong> criticising the limitations <strong>of</strong> themedium, Wenders began to concentrate on telling the most authentic stories possible; sometimes viaphilosophically-tinted parables (Himmel über Berlin - <strong>Wings</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Desire</strong> and its sequel, Far Away So Close,Until the End <strong>of</strong> the World), in which he still managed to maintain his critical, existentialist view <strong>of</strong> reality,or through the “road movies” Alice in the Cities, The Wrong Move, and Kings <strong>of</strong> the Road. Other filmsinclude Hammet, The <strong>American</strong> Friend, Beyond the Clouds, and numerous documentaries, includingThe Million Dollar Hotel, The Buena Vista Social Club, U2, and The Soul <strong>of</strong> a Man.OLA MAFAALANI — Adaptor/DirectorBorn in Syria, grew up in Germany and studied in the Netherlands. She began her career in the smallerproduction houses such as FACT and the Nes theatres. In 2000, she was awarded the Erik Vos Prizefor talented up-and-coming directors. Her production <strong>of</strong> Macbeth at the Koninklijke VlaamseSchouwburg was chosen for the 2001 Theatre Festival. She has been a permanent guest director atToneelgroep Amsterdam since 2001; productions include The Merchant <strong>of</strong> Venice and Romeo andJuliet, and recently she directed A Clockwork Orange with d’Electrique, which is scheduled again inthe 2006-07 season.ANDY MOOR — Composer/Sound DesignerBorn in London, England, began his musical life in Scotland playing guitar with the band Dog FacedHermans. In 1990 he moved to the Netherlands to join the Dutch band The Ex and continues to be afull time member <strong>of</strong> this band. In 1995 he performed his first series <strong>of</strong> completely improvised concertsas a duet with Terrie Ex, and later released a video <strong>of</strong> the best performances. In 1996 he began anothergroup with Tony Buck (Necks), Joe Williamson and Leonid Soybelman (Ne Zhdali) called Kletka Red,fusing traditional Klezmer, Greek and Russian songs with their own frantic styles <strong>of</strong> playing. In recentyears he has worked with electronic musicians (Kaffe Matthews, Yannis Kyriakides, Thomas Lehn, andColin Mclean), composed soundtracks for films and performed regularly with dancers such as MagpieMusic and Dance Company. He created soundtracks for the film Epic by artist Marion Coutts (DogFaced Hermans) and for her film No Evil Star; and launched a new CD label along with YannisKyriakides and Isabelle Vigier, called Unsounds. Mr. Moor has worked with Thermal (John Butcher andThomas Lehn), with Magpie Music and Dance Company, and sound poet Anne James Chaton; collaboratedwith dancer and choreographer Nora Heilmann, and with the Dutch theatre companies The Exand D’Electrique, including the production <strong>of</strong> A Clockwork Orange. He has toured extensively with TheEx worldwide.
