Sudan, 2001The <strong>Emergency</strong> <strong>Nutrition</strong> Network (ENN)grew out of a series of interagency meetings focusing on food andnutritional aspects of emergencies. The meetings were hosted byUNHCR and attended by a number of UN agencies, NGOs, donorsand academics. The Network is the result of a shared commitmentto improve knowledge, stimulate learning and provide vital supportand encouragement to food and nutrition workers involved inemergencies. The ENN officially began operations in November1996 and has widespread support from UN agencies, NGOs, anddonor governments. The network aims to improve emergencyfood and nutrition programme effectiveness by:• providing a forum for the exchange of field level experiences• strengthening humanitarian agency institutional memory• keeping field staff up to date with current research and evaluationfindings• helping to identify subjects in the emergency food and nutritionsector which need more researchThe main output of the ENN is a tri-annual newsletter,<strong>Field</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong>, which is devoted primarily to publishing field levelarticles and current research and evaluation findings relevant tothe emergency food and nutrition sector.The main target audience of the Newsletter are food and nutritionworkers involved in emergencies and those researching this area.The reporting and exchange of field level experiences is central toENN activities.The TeamJeremy Shoham (<strong>Field</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> technicaleditor) and Marie McGrath (<strong>Field</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong>production/assistant editor) are both ENNdirectors.Rupert Gill is the new ENN administrator, basedin Oxford.
