POLICY ON SEXUAL ASSAULT EDUCATIONAND PREVENTIONIn accordance with California Education Code,Sec tion 67382, and District Rules and Regulations 2.29,the San Mateo County Community <strong>College</strong> District iscom mitted to providing information, services andresources to all students, faculty and staff on the preventionof sexual assault. In partnership with various communityagencies, individuals who are victims of sexualassault or have concerns related to sexual assault shallreceive support and assistance. Students, faculty andstaff who need information or assistance related to sexualassault prevention, sexual assault services, and proceduresrelated to the reporting and processing of sexualassault incidents on campus may contact the StudentHealth Center, the Public Safety Office, or call the PublicSafety Dispatch at (650) 738-4199. Information may alsobe obtained on the <strong>Skyline</strong> <strong>College</strong> Public Safety websiteat www.skylinecollege.edu.POLICY ON A DRUG-FREE CAMPUS<strong>Skyline</strong> <strong>College</strong>, in compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989,prohibits the use, possession, sale or distribution ofalcohol, narcotics, dangerous or illegal drugs or othercontrolled substances on <strong>College</strong> property or at any functionsponsored by the District or <strong>College</strong>s.Students found to be in violation of the drug-freecampus policy will be subject to disciplinary actions up toand including suspension and explusion.The above policy includes the use of medical mari -juana/cannabis.The <strong>College</strong> Health Center provides information pertainingto the health risks and effects associated withalcohol and narcotics or other dangerous or illegal drugs.Students may be referred to various outside agencies forenrollment in a drug recovery program.P O L I C I E SPOLICY AND PROCEDURES FORSEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINTSThe policy of San Mateo County Community <strong>College</strong>District is to provide an educational and employmentenvironment free from unwelcome sexual advances,requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physicalconduct or communications constituting sexual harassment.Employees, students, or other persons acting onbehalf of the District who engage in sexual harassment asdefined in this policy or by state or federal law shall besubject to discipline, up to and including discharge,expulsion, or termination of employment contract.Pursuant to Title V of the California Education Code,the designated Officer for handling and investigatingemployee and student complaints of sexual harassment isthe Vice-Chancellor of Human Resources and EmployeeRelations. Copies of the complaint procedures, includingprocedures for both informal and formal resolution, canbe obtained by contacting the Office of Human Resourcesat the District Office, (650) 358-6767, or Vice-President forStudent Services at <strong>Skyline</strong>, (650) 738-4333.Authority: Cal. Based on this commitment,the <strong>College</strong> implemented a new smoking policybeginning Fall Semester 2009. Smoking is now onlypermitted in designated areas in or near parkinglots around campus. Designated areas are clearlymarked and ashtrays are located nearby.The active participation and cooperation ofall students, faculty, staff and guests in promotinga healthy and safe environment at <strong>Skyline</strong> <strong>College</strong>is greatly appreciated. All college constituenciesand guests are expected to observe the smokingpolicy.
