LDAfrom the editorDavid N. Austin, D.D.S.Editor, LDA JournalTry Not to SmileNational Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM)is celebrated during the entire month of February.NCDHM focuses on providing oral health education toall children despite their economic status. For example, this may include presentations to localschools, appearances in local media outlets, booths at health fairs or malls, etc.Give Kids A Smile Day (GKAS) is theannual centerpiece to NCDHM and isobserved on the first Friday in February.GKAS was designed to provide education, prevention and restorative care to lowincomechildren who do not have accessto care. The ADA set the 2008 GKAS asFebruary 1. However, Louisiana willcelebrate it on February 22, to avoid theMardi Gras and President’s Day holidays. The Give Kids A Smile name was firstused by the Greater St. Louis DentalSociety with a group of dentists who setup a temporary, full-service clinic thattreated nearly 400 children over two daysin February 2002.Since then, the program has grown enormously, andin 2007, resulted in treatment of over 758,000children. Events took place at approximately 2,250locations across the nation, with over 39,000 dentalteam volunteers and 14,400 dentists, providing freeservices to underserved children.GKAS is meant to accomplish two things, helpchildren get the dental care they so desperately needAND raise awareness that our children deserve a betterhealth care system that addresses their dental healthneeds. We need to educate parents andpolicymakers that good oral health is essentialto overall health. We need commonsense,market-based solutions and other reformsthat will encourage more dentists toparticipate in public insurance programs.Neither my children nor yours will goto bed tonight with unresolved oral healthissues. If that is true, then why should anychild have to suffer? If you have not been involved withGKAS in the past, I encourage you to do so.The child you will see will benefit greatlyfrom your expertise and the smile you willhelp create may last a lifetime. I can alsoguarantee one more thing: of all the smilesyou will help to make, the smile on yourown face will be the most satisfying. Many dentists across Louisiana hostevents in their own offices. In 2007, the first annual joint conference of the LDAAnnual Session and the New Orleans DentalConference was a huge success, thanks largely to thehard work of the conference committee and so manyother members. I am pleased to report that the LDAreceived over $63,000 in non-dues revenue as its shareof profit from this event. Since many conferencespeakers gave up their honorariums in 2007 to helpour state’s continuing hurricane recovery efforts, it maybe awhile before a windfall of that magnitude reoccurs.Still, the 2008 conference should also prove to be verysuccessful as final preparations are under way. Makeplans to enjoy this outstanding conference, April 10-12, 2008, with great continuing education and funNew Orleans style! Visit www.nodc.org for moreinformation.I could go on, but you’ve probably turned the pageby now. There are always issues within our professionthat require our close attention and action. LDAC. Richmond Corley, Jr., D.D.S.Senior Vice President/CEO, LDSlouisiana dental services, inc.The 2007 Year End ReportAs the year 2007 comes to a close, I thank you onbehalf of the LDS Board of Directors for yourcontinuing support of the LDA/LDS Endorsed Productsand Services Program. From a start-up authorization by the LDA House ofDelegates in 1991 followed by the incorporation of LDSas an LDA wholly owned subsidiary forprofitcorporation, this business venturehas become a major source of non-duesrevenue for the LDA Board of Directorsto use in support of membership benefitsand other related expenses in the day-todayoperations of the LDA.LDS, along with its wholly ownedsubsidiary for-profit corporation namedProfessional Dental Plans, Inc., and its revenue sourceCrescent Dental Plans Inc.®, will once again in 2007provide in the neighborhood of over $100,000 to theLDA in non-dues revenue for the benefit of themembership. LDA members who have supported theLDA/LDS endorsed products program with theirpurchases from endorsed vendors should beparticularly proud of this accomplishment that hasbenefited ALL of the membership. The LDS Board has worked over the passing years tokeep the Endorsed Product and Services Program at ahigh quality level. Each and every one of you thatparticipate in this program is reminded that LDS staff isready to be your advocate, if the need should everarise, over any issue of satisfaction between you andany endorsed vendor that is covered under the currentagreement between the vendor and LDS.During the year 2007, LDA/LDS dropped itsendorsement of Acadian Ambulance Medical Services(covering defibrillator equipment) and EBSCOIndustries (waiting room magazine subscriptionservices) because of non-revenue activity. Thedefibrillator equipment issue is well covered by twoother endorsed vendors, namely New Line Medical andSouthern Anesthesia and Surgical.Three newly endorsed companies have been addedin 2007, but one of these, CDA Select Choice LoanProgram is on an indefinite hold because of recentchanges in the Federal laws regarding college studentloan consolidation programs. The second of these,Bruner and Company, which is dedicated to Web sitedevelopment for the dental office is now in fulloperation to provide an off the shelf semi pre-designedbuild it yourself Web site package and also acustom designed dental office Web site packageat competitive pricing. The third companyadded to the endorsed products and serviceslist for this year is Southern Anesthesia andSurgical (SAS), which is a long-establishedcompany that many of you who are OralSurgeons are very familiar with. It is an adjunctcompany to our endorsed relationship with IMEPEmergency Response System. You have all receivedtheir LDS business relationship announcement letterand catalog in November. We urge you who practice inthe specialty of oral surgery to designate the LDA asyour professional organization of choice to receive anybenefits of your purchases from SAS.Three of our long-standing endorsed vendors haveshown significant increase of sales to LDA members inthis calendar year. These are CareCredit, NOVA andOffice Depot. One of our newer endorsed companies,Fortress Insurance Company, has also shownsubstantial growth. Some of you may also be aware that the ADA hasnow included the use of amalgam separators in itslisting of best practices for the safe disposal of amalgamwaste. The LDA/LDS Endorsed Products and ServicesProgram is pleased to remind you that Amalgaway, aleader in dental amalgam separation technology, hasbeen endorsed for several years. They are prepared tosupply you with the latest amalgam separators. AnotherLDA/LDS endorsed vendor, SolmeteX, is also availableto provide highly efficient mercury removal systems.Moving from LDS activities to those of its whollyowned subsidiary, Professional Dental Plans, Inc. andits endorsed relationship with Crescent Employee6 LDA Journal

Benefits, Inc. and Crescent Dental Plans, Inc.®, Iremind you that the LDA Board of Directors will becalled on at its January 2008 board meeting to givedirection to the LDS Board of Directors regardingallowing of the inclusion of a passive PPO option (to beavailable for use at the choice of the policy holder) inthe dental benefit plans underwritten by CompanionLife and marketed under the Crescent Dental Plans,Inc.® label.A major shift in demand by the groups activelypurchasing voluntary dental benefit plans in themarketplace has brought on this request by RobynBossum, vice president and director of marketing forCrescent Employee Benefits, Inc. (CEB). From a purelybusiness standpoint, there is no question that approvalof this request will make sure that there will becontinued growth of the Crescent Dental plans, Inc.®market share. All of the major competing dental plansare now offering this option and most, if not all, bidrequests received today by CEB require the inclusion ofthe passive PPO option in the response. Beyond thepurely business consideration, this issue becomes verycomplicated for the dental professional because of themany issues that have arisen over time regarding thirdparty payers, managed care and their intervention inthe traditional doctor/patient relationship. In this particular issue, as it involves the LDAmembership, the facts are these: no member of theLDA is being asked to contract with a PPO to be able torender care to anyone; non-contracting dentists mayrender care to the subscribers of these plans who electto choose the PPO option and be paid at the same rateas any PPO contract provider is paid for coveredservices rendered; the non-contract dentist can thenbalance bill the patient for the remainder of his/herregular fee and it is true that the LDA has for manyyears endorsed a major medical plan for itsmembership which includes a PPO so that thepremium dollars charged for the coverage affordedcould be kept within some semblance of reason, whichis exactly why this passive PPO option is needed in theCrescent Dental Plans, Inc.® program at this time. Some of you have responded to the various vehiclesLDA has tried to use to get a real response in totalnumber of members on this issue, but only a very smallpercentage of you have taken time to render a yes or noon whether the LDA should grant permission for theuse of this option in the passive form. Please take amoment in the next two weeks to let your component’sLDA board member know how the LDA shouldproceed if you have not already done so.As always, LDS appreciates your continued support, and our best to you and your family for a happy andprosperous NEW YEAR! t“I couldn’t be more pleased withRobert Ellis and Associates andmy business office policy. Theyhave been wonderful to work withand have always been availablewhen I’ve needed them. I wouldwithout question recommendRobert Ellis and Associates tomy fellow dentists.”– Dr. William “Bill” McColganWinter 2007 7

Learning theintricacies of the LDA membership department has notbeen easy, but Sharon has risen to the occasion byputting in many hours of hard work and countlessphone calls with the ADA.“The most challenging part of this new job isorganizing the membership department,” Sharon says.“Thankfully, everyone at the LDA and the ADA havebeen so helpful in helping me find the resourcesneeded to do my job.”Prior to joining the LDA, she worked for CMC-Americas as human resource and benefits coordinator, assigned to approximately 200 employees nationwideto handle all HR and benefits matters.“At another one of my previous jobs in anotherassociation, I worked in the membership andcontinuing education department. LDAnodc / annual sessionDr. Donald Toso,Conference Committee ChairmanNew Orleans Dental Conferenceand LDA Annual Session Gearing UpTo Be Another Huge SuccessThe picture on the cover of this journal denotes asignificant event in the history of dentistry andcontinuing education in the state of Louisiana. For 60years, the New Orleans Dental Conference (NODC) hasattracted clinicians that everyone wants to see and learnfrom. In order to continue to hold an annual three-daycontinuing education conference, especially after themeeting has been cancelled two years in a row becauseof hurricanes, the NODC partnered with the LouisianaDental Association and moved to a time of the yearwith less threatening weather. The result of this new relationship is the profitsharingcheck recently presented to the LDA leadership(see front cover photo) by NODC treasurer, Dr. TomMcCoy. I hasten to add that the amount of profit that isshared will vary from year to year. And the 2007 profitwas fairly large due to the generosity of our clinicians. All of our speakers waived their honorarium in order toassist the conference after the devastation of HurricaneKatrina. But, unlike many things in life, it’s NOT aboutthe money! The dentists of this state now have a conference thatthey can call their own at the same time that thebusiness of the House of Delegates takes place. And, weagain have a terrific group of clinicians for you to learnfrom. And, significantly, (since it’s NOT about themoney) you PAY ONE PRICE!That is correct, no extra fees for this course and thatcourse. Add up what you paid to attend your last non-NODC, non-LDA meeting. Or peruse one of thebrochures that you receive from another meeting andnote how cost-effective the NODC/LDA Annual Sessionis, especially for Louisiana dentists and tripartitemembers.Just in case you think that it is about the money, remember that the larger the attendance, the moreprofit-share, the less chance that we will have duesincreases!A conference brochure will be mailed soon, maybeeven before you receive this Journal, and speakers andhotel information has been listed on the Web site atwww.nodc.org. Online registration will open January 1,2008. You can also check out the conference clinicianson page 11 of the LDA Journal, as well as a map of theconference center area, including hotel locations andparking, on page 12. And, take note that this year’smeeting has several special events, including food andentertaining sessions by Marcelle Bienvenu, LeahChase, Beverly Church and Susan Spicer. So, mark your calendars now. LDAexecutive directorWard Blackwell, M.J., Executive Director, LDA“Tap Into a Healthier Smile” is the theme for theLDA’s new public affairs campaign to broaden public, media and governmental awareness of the benefits ofcommunity water fluoridation and lay the groundworkfor passing legislation in 2008 that could bringfluoridated water to virtually everyone in Louisiana. The campaign is a partnership with the ADA andpart of the State-Based Public Affairs Program initiatedby the ADA earlier this year. With ADA funding, theLDA has hired a leading Louisiana communicationsfirm, Creative Communications, Inc. (CCI) from BatonRouge, to direct the public relations aspects of theproject. We’ve also engaged our lobbying firm, RoedelParsons, et al, in a new, separate contract to handle thecampaign’s governmental relations aspects. One of CCI’s initial actions will be to conduct focusgroups, as well as statewide opinion polls to compiledata that we expect will confirm public support forfluoridation. In addition, LDA and CCI distributedcandidate questionnaires during the recent electionperiod to get potential lawmakers to begin thinking offluoridated water as a health care solution. Thequestionnaire also offered facts regarding fluoridationand is proving to be a valuable tool to help distinguishwhich new leaders are more likely to be receptive to thecampaign. As noted by Claire Rivette, director of governmentalrelations for CCI and communications director of thecampaign, “There has been great turnover in thelegislature, and it is probably safe to say that a majorityof legislators are not acquainted with our issue. We planto take advantage of this opportunity to educate ournew leaders and give them meaningful, practical reformsto enact during their first terms in office. Plus,Governor-elect Jindal has long supported preventivehealth care initiatives.”In addition, the team is working with a vast networkof non-governmental groups that have an interest(positively and, perhaps, negatively) in this project. CCILDA Urges Louisiana to“Tap Into a Healthier Smile!”made a presentation to LABI’s Health Care Task Forceand asked the organization to support a positionstatement in favor of our position. However, not all groups will be as receptive. That iswhy LDA members and other dental professionalsthroughout Louisiana will be invaluable sources of help.According to Rivette, “We hope to work with theLDA to establish a ‘Speaker’s Bureau’ of localactivists/dentists who can speak about the issues to localcivic groups. In addition, we’ll ask our partners toparticipate in a grassroots/grasstops campaign of letterwriting to media and key elected officials. We also hopeto book them on local television morning shows, radiotalk shows and meetings with editorial boards of localnewspapers.”Furthermore, the Department of Health andHospitals (DHH) has agreed to fund radio and TVpublic service announcements (PSAs) that will runacross the state during the first quarter of 2008 and beproduced by our team (DHH gets final approval ofcontent). The PSAs will refer viewers/listeners to a Website that can be accessed for additional information onfluoridation. The multi-faceted nature of the campaign makes fora big job that has only just begun, but the stage appearsto be set for possible success. The LDA slogan “Tap Intoa Healthier Smile!” is already getting positive response. And as Rivette observed, “The time seems right, politically and economically, for Louisiana to make thisdecision, and we have a great team of politicalprofessionals, communications experts and dentists whocan spread the good word. If our leaders are seriousabout improving health care in our state, the LDA’sstrategy to fluoridate all the water systems in the stateoffers the easiest, most cost-effective way to save moneyand see quick results.”So, be on the lookout for information and updatesabout this exciting LDA initiative. Your support is vitaland appreciated.16 LDA Journal

Chipping in for Dentistry with LADPACGolf Tournament Hosts Record CrowdJeffrei Clifton, LDA InternAround 10 a.m., cars, trucksand vans started rolling intoBeaver Creek Golf Club parkinglot in Zachary, La. Dentists fromall over the state were arrivingto enjoy the course, ice coldbeverages and fine company at the 2007 LADPAC GolfTournament. After a week of rain, that day’s weather was ideal. The temperature had dropped slightly and the sun wasout making it a perfect day to take a break from theoffice and relax at the golf course. The morning kicked off with registration andjambalaya lunch. Then, armed with their clubs, cartsand a prayer for luck, the dentists and their guestsheaded to their holes to begin the 18-hole scramble. This year’s tournament hosted the largest number ofparticipants in the event’s history. LDAlsu school of dentistryEric J. Hovland, D.D.S., M.Ed., M.B.A.Dean, LSU School of DentistryGiving ThanksAs we look toward a new year, I am grateful for therelatively smooth relocation back to New Orleans.Although we experienced some challenges, the majorconcerns—student admissions, education and patientcare—have been resolved in a short period of time.Student admissions continue to be strong. This fall,a total of 112 students were accepted: 60 dentalstudents, 44 dental hygiene students and 6 dentallaboratory technology students. For the 2007-2008academic year, the school has a total of 342 studentsand 61 residents. Classrooms and clinics are fullyoperational, although some areas continue to undergorenovations and improvement. In September, a press conference welcomed newpatients to LSUSD. Since then, 900 individuals wereaccepted as patients. By the end of the year, the schoolexpects to accept a least 1,800 more, which will bringthe LSUSD clinics to full patient capacity. Patientrecords are now paperless thanks to a generousdonation from axiUm!In addition to the LSUSD clinics, the pediatric clinicat Children’s Hospital and the HIV Outpatient DentalClinic in downtown New Orleans are both fullyoperational. Through Children’s Hospital, the ToothBus is providing dental care to underserved childrenthroughout the New Orleans region. In addition, recently secured HRSA funding has supported thedevelopment of a mobile dental van in which dentalservices will be provided to HIV-positive individualsand other “at-risk” populations. In other areas of Louisiana, our satellite operationsin Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Alexandria continue toprovide much needed dental care to underservedpopulations. Also, general practice and oral andmaxillofacial residents are providing care throughseveral hospitals statewide—Earl K. Long, Huey P. Longand University Hospital. With regard to academics and research, theestablishment of the LSUSD Department of Oral andCraniofacial Biology was officially approved by theLouisiana Board of Regents. This initiative will assist inthe development of a more streamlined basic-sciencecurriculum to enhance and strengthen dentaleducation. LSUSD administrators and faculty are alsopreparing for the school’s upcoming accreditation visitin March 2009; this is a significant challenge as we arestill refining our operations in New Orleans. Throughthe accreditation process, the ADA Commission onDental Accreditation will evaluate the school’s collectiveprograms, processes and outcomes.Renovations continue on the first floors of the clinicand administration building. Both floors will havelimited use due to FEMA regulations. Auditoriums A &B renovations should be complete by the Summer 2008and architectural drawings have been completed for anew campus building, which will house a state-of-theartsurgery, esthetic and clinical research clinic. Afaculty dental practice clinic will also be housed in thenew building. Our efforts are moving forward successfully and Iam extremely optimistic about the future of the LSUSD.The search for a new dean is still in progress and everyeffort will be made to communicate a decision once acandidate is selected. For now, I continue to strive forexcellence to ensure that Louisiana’s only dental schoolcontinues to retain its position as one of the best in theworld. I also sincerely give thanks to all those whohave helped the school through this challengingtransition. Please accept my best wishes for aprosperous and healthy 2008!tWinter 2007 23

LDAwealth managementChad Olivier, CFP ®Wealth Consultant/LPL Branch Manager, The Olivier Group, L.L.C.Staying In Control: Who Gets Your Assets –Family or Uncle Sam?Most people share a love for the USA and haveprobably paid a fair amount in taxes. Nevertheless, without careful planning, your heirs could end up in atug of war with the federal government over yourestate. You may be able to avoid the governmentseizing more than their fair share with proper estateplanning. This involves taking the ranks and staying incontrol of your assets. Let’s look at an example:Dr. Jones (currently a widower) passes away with thefollowing estate:Cars ........................................................$25,000House ................................................$1,000,000Condo ..................................................$750,000Rental Property.....................................$500,000Investment Account..............................$500,000IRA ....................................................$3,000,000Art Collection .......................................$100,000Furnishings...........................................$100,000Bank Accounts......................................$100,000Life Insurance Policy........................$2,000,000**Owner of Policy: Dr. Jones, Beneficiary: kidsEstate for planning tax purposes = $8,075,000Approximate estate tax Dr. Jones’ heirs will owe:$8,075,000 - $2,000,000 (exemption allowed*) =$6,075,000$6,075,000 * 45% = $2,733,750*Currently, you are allowed to use a Unified Credit Exemptionof $2 million to offset your assets. The heirs will owe $2,733,750 in estate taxes thatmust be paid in full within nine months after Dr.Jones’s death. Where will the kids get the money to paythe $2,733,750 in Federal Estate Taxes? After the kidsreceive the $2 million in life insurance proceeds, theyshould liquidate the $500,000 investment account andthe $100,000 in the bank. After the liquidation, a taxbill of $133,750 still remains. The IRA will be taxed atthe kids’ current tax bracket if distributed and all of theother assets may be at the mercy of the current marketdue to low liquidity.Where did Dr. Jones go wrong?1. Bad Titling: He should not own his life insurancepolicy. An irrevocable life insurance policy trustwould have taken $2 million out of his estate.2. Advanced planning should have been considered: Dr.Jones could have looked into advanced planning, such as gifting part of the estate. This would haveprovided the kids with tax-free money thus loweringthe estate burden.3. Planning better in general: A large portion of theestate is in non-liquid items. This makes it difficultfor the kids to easily come up with estate tax money, causing them to use up most of the cash. With the appropriate planning, Dr. Jones wouldhave left more assets to his children instead of handinghis life-long earnings to Uncle Sam.tChad Olivier is owner of the firm The Olivier Group, L.L.C.in Baton Rouge, La., which specializes in retirement planningand wealth management for physicians, dentists and otheraffluent individuals and families. For many years, theboard has been actively participating with theAmerican Association of Dental Examiners (AADE).This organization is independent of the AmericanDental Association, and assists all state boards ofdentistry in the conducting of their clinical licensingexaminations. This third party independent evaluationis of utmost importance to the public whom we serveso as to make sure that new licensees practice at athreshold level of safety before being allowed topractice on the public.I am now proud to announce that former boardmember Dr. White S. Graves from Monroe has beenelected to the third vice-presidency of the AADE. Hewill ascend the ladder and become president withinfour years.Dr. Graves has been an inspiration to all of us onthe board and in his home community. Dr. Graves has shown his dedication to his God,family and profession in a manner which we wish wecould all emulate. Louisiana truly has someone to beproud of and that someone is Dr. White S. Graves. We can also be proud of three LSBD members whoare leaving because of term limits. The terms of Drs.Dennis Donald, Butch McVea, and Vance Wascomexpire on December 31, 2007. Combined they total 34years of experience on the board. Each has chairednumerous committees. Each has served in all capacitiesas secretary-treasurer, vice-president and president (Dr.Donald three times). Each has been in charge ofmanaging the clinical licensing examinations. How canyou replace them and their experience? You cannot. We only look forward to the governor to appoint threesuccessors who will come to the board with the samededication and energy as these three fine gentlemen. We wish them well in all their future endeavors. They have already promised to assist as examinersduring the CITA clinical examinations to beadministered in Louisiana and other participatingstates. I hope you will consider doing the same to givesomething back to the profession we love so much andwhich has rewarded all of us so well. If you wish tovolunteer as an examiner, you can call the board officeor CITA directly at (919) 678-9792. They would loveto hear from you. LDAlast pageDavid AustinIt’s Good To Be Green – Part 2Our research facility located in Dry Prong has beeninundated with a substantial amount of angry andthreatening mail from many within our membershipconcerning our recently published (18 months ago)paper, It’s Good To Be Green. Our staff cannot possiblyanswer all of the cards, letters, and subpoenas thatmany of you have thoughtfully sent. Indeed, it is mysincere hope that this column will clear up most, if notall, of the errors and recommendations that were madethat resulted in any problem(s) you may have hadpersonally.Let us begin with the first and perhaps worstmistake. Sentence number two, within paragraph threeshould have said: we recommend toilet paper madefrom recycled paper…the inadvertent wordmisplacement and syntax error has caused some of ourmembership grievous moments. Please, I cannotemphasize strongly enough, do not use recycled toiletpaper.Another recommendation that must be correctedcomes from paragraph five, sentence number six. Itshould have stated: we therefore highly recommendpatient bibs made from palm leaves…we have beencontacted by the city attorney of Grand Isle becausemany of the palm trees located along the beach area aremissing their leaves. It seems that several dentalassistants have been caught removing said leaves andsome have actually found their way on Ebay. Accordingto the city attorney, this has had a very negative impacton tourism and a number of suits have been filed. Let’sbe perfectly clear on this matter. A palm leaf actuallymakes a dandy patient bib, but just say no for the sakeof keeping our beaches pristine. One mistake that I must personally take the blamefor is actually all of paragraph nine. This was myattempt to help the doctor and staff go paperless bykeeping all pertinent banking and patient data within asecure firewalled computer server. It seems that atleast six of our members have had identity thefts.Actually one member has lost nearly all of his patientsto the person who stole his identity. Seems they justprefer going to the other guy, who incidentally is not adentist.????Regretfully, an important sentence was completelyleft out within paragraph 12. This paragraph specifiedways to use photovoltaic, or solar cells, to harness theenergy of the sun to heat and cool your office. Weactually had a member dentist in the extremenortheastern part of our state build and equip his officewith solar cells to provide electricity for his heating andair. Unfortunately, he did not have a conventionalback-up system in place. It was also unfortunate thatthe good doctor suffered frostbite on several of his toesand one ear during a lengthy crown and bridgeprocedure he performed on a cloudy day last winter.I am happy to report that he has almost completelyrecovered and we have settled out of court. It is also with sadness that we must not continue torecommend linoleum manufactured in Breaux Bridge. You may recall (paragraph 17, sentence 42) that ourtesting facility evaluated flooring material made fromchitin, which is of course a polysaccharide found in theexoskeletons of crawfish (crayfish). This substanceproved extremely durable during our research and wegave it our highest rating of five molars. It was indeed, too good to be true. It seems that if any water isspilled, it will become extremely slippery and smelly.Even though this product remains very popular in someareas of our state, we can no longer recommend it.Finally, we are still looking for volunteer doctorsand staff who would agree to wear and evaluate diapersprovided by NASA. We believe that the savings ofusing less water and time away from patients will morethan offset the costs involved. They actually come withVelcro tabs for the elderly and very young dentists. Besure and call or drop us a line if you wish to be a partof our evaluation team.t40 LDA Journal
