Sofie StrömbergSenior Associate Consultant at Bain &Co in StockholmI’ve always been interested in businessand economics and wanted to be ableto work internationally and I heard SSEwas the best place for it.I had a great time at SSE, mainly becauseof all the great people that studythere. It is great to be around people thatare so energetic and ambitious abouteverything from school to work and ofcourse fun! There are always a lot ofthings to get involved with in the students’association, things that are bothfun and rewarding in terms of experiencesand learning.Another thing about SSE is that it neverfelt competitive as some people think itis, everyone would help each other outwith studying for exams, prepare for jobinterviews etc. and it has continued sincewe all started to work.I think that what really differentiatesSSE from other universities in Sweden,is that we are very exposed to potentialfuture employers from a very early point.SSE has relationships with many topuniversities across the world and I didan exchange semester in Singapore, which was a great experience! I woulddefinitely encourage everyone to go onexchanges, most of my friends went toall kinds of places and all had great experiences.GRADUATE PROFILEGraduates had a median age of 25. Of the graduates respondingto the survey, 42 percent were female and 58 percent male.Of the graduates, 45 percent have studied abroad through anexchange program. The median number of jobs applied for wasthree, and the number of offers (also median) amounted to two.Nineteen percent of the graduates had another education beforeentering the SSE MSc program or pursued a parallel universityeducation during their studies at SSE. The subjects studied werea o Engineering, Law and History. Five percent of the graduatesresponding to this survey earned an additional joint degree inmanagement through SSE’s CEMS affiliation, a global consortiumof business schools in which SSE is the exclusive representativein Sweden.GRADUATE PROFILEAge on graduation (median) 25Women 42%Men 58%Additional university degree pursued during or before theSSE MSc program:(CEMS 5%, Engineering, Law, History)19%Have studied abroad through exchange program 45%Total number of respondents: 733

Studying atSSE was a fun and challenging period of my life. I thinkwhat truly elevates the experience at SSE is the nice andhighly talented students. It doesn’t matter if you are participatingin class or in student association projects youare always surrounded by motivated people who helps andsupports each other. My most memorable experience at SSE was through thestudent association project Exchange Japan where wetraveled to Tokyo and lived with Japanese students andmet major Swedish companies with operations in Japan.I finished my studies in 2008 (soon after the Lehmancrash) which was not the easiest of times for anyone tofind a job. SSE’s reputation and the network I built upduring my studies were then very valuable assets in thehard competition. As a Risk Analyst now I still have greatuse in my everyday work for the Finance and Derivativescourses I took at SSE.11
