Summer <strong>Staff</strong> Bios.Joe Morris – 420 Race Team CoachSchool: Yale 2012Coaching: 4 years (2 with AYC)Hometown: <strong>Annapolis</strong>Joe started sailing age 7, and has grown up sailing in the AYC juniorprogram. He has raced optis, 420s, 29ers, I-420s, J22s, and laser radials. Joewas Severn School’s sailing team captain for 3 years. A four time nationalchampion. Joe is now partaking in collegiate collegiately, and will be sailing470s in Germany and Denmark when not coaching this summer.Willie McBride – 420 Development TeamSanta Barbara, CaliforniaUniversity of California at BerkeleyWillie will be 18 this summer, and has been sailing for the last 8 years. ASanta Barbara (So Cal) native, Willie will be going into his sophomore yearat Cal, Berkeley where he studies engineering, and is the A skipper on thesailing team. After learning to race double handed boats on the 29er, hecarried his crewing skills over to the 420 and has finished in the top four at the InternationalOrange Bowl, the C420 North Americans, and two C420 Midwinters. His favorite sailingexperience was at the ISAF Youth Worlds, where he represented the US in the boys, doublehanded discipline. In the last year, Willie has run practices for his college team, in addition tocoaching several bay area, high school sailing teams. When he is not sailing or studying, hepractices mixed martial arts, and enjoys hanging out at the beach. Look for him this summer afteryouth program hours, rigging up in the boat park to go practice with AYC's Joe Morris for their470 campaign.Dave Schellie – 420 Development TeamGraduating Severn School in JuneRoger Williams Class of 13My hometown in McLean VirginiaThis is Dave’s first year coaching sailing. His sailing experience includesoptis, and two summers of race team experience. He has also sailed onJ105s since and was ten, and sails for the Severn School Sailing team.Adrienne Patterson—420 Race TeamAdrienne Patterson is from Newport Beach, California and has sailed since shewas five years old. Sailing has always been a passion of hers and she enjoyssharing her passion with young sailors. She graduated with an undergraduatedegree from St. Mary's College of Maryland and will be receiving her Master ofArts in Teaching in June. During the four years at St. Mary's College, shecompeted in the Women's College circuit and participated in all four women'snational championships. In 2007, the women's team won the Women's National


Championship at Old Dominion University and Adrienne had the honor to accept the QuantumFemale Sailor of the Year. She has sailed many different boats as a skipper and a crew: sabot,CFJ, club 420, I-420, and a Snipe. She has taught summer sailing in Newport Beach, Californiaas well as in Larchmont, New York and she is looking forward to coaching the AYC sailors!Jennifer Chamberlin—Green FleetJennifer Chamberlin was born in <strong>Annapolis</strong> and grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.She has sailed since she was very young on her family’s log canoe and then in Tred Avon’sjunior program.More recently, she is a member of the St. Mary’s College Varsity team. Thisspring ’09, she will graduate from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, majoring inEconomics. She has spent most of her summers teaching around the country, but looks forwardto a summer on the Chesapeake.Tonie Domino—Sea SquirtsTonie grew up sailing at Indian Landing Boat <strong>Club</strong> in Millersville, MD. Shejoined the sailing team at Washington College. She earned her first varsityletter and the most improved player award her freshman year. Tonie was aversatile member of the team, and crewed in co-ed and women's events atboth the open and intersectional levels. She graduated from WashingtonCollege summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Chemistryand Psychology, winning the Doris T. Bell '50 award for the senior female with the highestcumulative average who had won a varsity letter during the year. Her plans include attendingveterinary school. She brings to AYC her lifelong love of sailing and a decade of experienceworking with children of all ages in many different settings, including time as a lifeguard, campcounselor, substitute sailing instructor, and nanny.Kaylee Schwitzer – Creek CrittersKaylee began sailing when she was seven, and sailed for five years on the SSAOpti Racing Team. Last year, she began sailing at <strong>Annapolis</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, whereshe won the 2008 CBYRA High Point Top Girl award; Kaylee was the femaleskipper with the best 420 record on the Chesapeake Bay. She has raced Optis,420s, FJs, J22s, and J105s. Kaylee is a current member of the Severn SailingTeam and is a rising junior. This summer will be her first summer coaching, andwhen she is not coaching, she will be sailing with the 420 Race Team.
