BSIPMeghalaya have yielded a rich spore-pollen assemblage. Pleridophytes are richlyrepresented in the assemblage. The following species were identified :Lycopodiumsporites abundans, Polypodiaceaesporites tertiarus, P. favus, Biretisporilessp., Faveosporites, Lygodiumsporites Jakiensis, Cyalhidires spp., Strialrifeles susannae,S. sinuosus, Surmaspora sinuosQ, Malayaeaspora costala, Pinuspollenitesfoveolatus, Abiespollenites burmaensis, Laricoidites sp., Podocarpidites sp.,Retipilonapites sp., Neocouperipollis spp., Trifossapollenites costatus, Bombacacidiresinausus. The spore-pollen recovered are comparable with Miocene assemblagesof north-eastern India.Programme 6.6: Palynostratigraphy ofof Mikir and NorthR.S.Singhthe Tertiary sedimentsCachar lIills, AssamObjective : To select stratigraphically and ecologically importantpalynotaxa of North Cachar Hill: To study ultrastructure of important palynofossilsand to trace their relation with pollen of moderntaxa: To reconstruct the environment of deposition andpalaeoclimate during sedimentationMacerated 67 rock samples from Lumding-HaOong rqad section, North CacharHills, out of which 27 samples yielded spore-pollen. The assemblage is representedby the genera Polypodiaceaesporites, Pteridacidites, Striatriletes, Piceapollenites,Podocarpidites, Pinuspollenites, Polyadopollenites, Bombacacidites, Ericipites andMagnamonocolpites. The reworked Permian miospores are also represented in theassemblage. These are: Parasaccites, Striatopodocarpidites and Densipollenites.Programme 6.7ObjectiveMadhavKumar: Palynostratigraphy of Barail sediments InUpper Assam: To study Barail sedimentslithic characters, naturenofossil contentin order to know theirof contact and paly-: To study morphotaxonomy of the palynofossils: To establish palynological zonation in the Barailsedimentary succession: To study the botanical affinity of the variousspore-pollen taxaPalynology of a section in Jeypore Colliery, Tikak Parbat Formation (UpperOligocene) was completed.
