Andy Warhol• wanted to remove thedifference between finearts and thecommercial arts usedfor magazineillustrations, comicbooks, record albumsor advertisingcampaigns.• Warhol once expressedhis philosophy in onepoignant sentence:"When you think aboutit, department storesare kind of likemuseums".• Use bright andcontrasting colors.

Roy Lichtenstein• his work heavilyinfluenced byboth popularadvertising andthe comic bookstyle.• Used Primarycolors, blackwhite andsometimes gray.

Assignment• You will chose a Roy Lichtenstein or AndyWarhol artwork to grid up and reproduce withyour own color scheme choice.• You’ll be able to choose which size paintingyou want to create= 8”x10” or 10”x12”• You’ll have to grid your work to fit the paper

What I’ll be looking for:• Painting skills• Gridding up the picture correctly• Craftsmanship• If the artwork was done in a colorscheme• If you painted in Lichtenstein’s style orWarhol’s style

Step 1• Find a picture youlike.• Grid the picture andboard you areusing.• Draw a contourdrawing of thepicture onto thegridded board.

Step 2• Finish the Lichtenstein/ Warhol paintingworksheet• Deicide what colors you will use/make foryour piece.

Step 3• Use the painting techniques that youlearned from the worksheet and applythem to your piece.
