FOAM COMPONENTS14Caccialanza & C. is producing thecomplete range of foam componentsfor all different types of fixed firefighting foam systems, such us:HEAVY FOAM-MAKING BRANCHPIPES (L-st type)Their purpose is to add air to the foam/waterpremix stream forming a fire extinguishingheavy foam with an expansion rate of about1:7.FOAM CHAMBERS (STO type)Foam chambers are installed on top pouringfoam systems for fixed roof tanks. Their purposeis to avoid the outflow of flammable vaporsfrom the fixed roof storage tank through thefoam system pipes, and to allow the testing ofthe foam system without introducing foam intothe fixed roof tank. For this purpose the foamchambers are provided with a sealing glassdiaphragm (which in normal conditions avoidsthe outflowing of the flammable vapours fromthe tank and in fire conditions breaks due tothe foam pressure allowing the inlet of theextinguishing foam into the tank) and with aremovable cap.FOAM POURERS (SK, SKC and SKG type)Foam pourers are designed to be installed atthe end (outlet) of the foam linesof low expansion foamsystems on fixed rooftanks (mounted insidethe tank) or on floatingroof tanks (mounted ona splash board). They are intendedto bring the foam jet smoothly along the tankwall onto the surface of the flammable liquidinside the tank (without splashing on it).MEDIUM EXPANSION FOAM MAKING BRAN-CHPIPES (LM type)Medium expansion foammaking branch pipes forfixed installation areare generally mountedin medium expansion foamsystems for the protection of dyke areas, pumphouses, loading bays, wharfs (foam at sea),plants and airport landing strips. Mediumexpansion foam making branchpipes aresuitable for foam production and for pouring ofthe foam. Their purpose is to produce a highvolume of foam (expansion rate about 1:80)which at the same time is sufficiently stableand heavy not to be blown up by wind or by thethermic of a fire.HIGH EXPANSION FOAM GENERA-TORS (GTtype)High expansion foam generators for fixedinstallation are mounted on high expansionfoam systems for the protection ofbig storage rooms andcontaining basins.for LPG spherical tanksTheir purpose is to producea very high volume of foam(expansion rate 1:600) containinga very little percentage of water in order to fillwithin shortest time big volumes (storagerooms) avoiding at the same time the waterdamage.LOW EXPANSION FOAM NOZZLES(U3 type)Low expansion foam nozzles aremounted on low expansion foamsystems with open sprinkler forthe protection of oil loading bays, airport hangars and big storescontaining flammable liquids.Their purpose is to produce a rain of lowexpansion foam (expansion rate about 1:6).www.caccialanza.eu

SELF PRIMING INLINE INDUCTORS (V type)Inline inductors are suitable for foam systemswith fixed flowrate (only 1 foamoutlet or a fixed number of foamoutlets which must work simultaneously). It is the cheapestproportioning system, but itsproperly working is strictlyconnected to exactly definedoperating conditions (flowrate, pressure, pressure loss in the line between the premixerand the foam outlet). Even little deviationsfrom the nominal operating values (about +/-10%) cause the interruption of the aspiration ofthe foam compound.AROUND THE PUMP PROPORTIONERS(PP type)Around the pump proportioners are utilized forfoam systems on ships oron fire trucks where 1 ormaximum 2 differentflowrates are required(fire fighting ships with2 monitors for FiFi 1classification). The aroundthe pump proportioners are mounted in parallelto the water pump and aspirate automaticallya fixed flowrate of foam compound whichis added to the water flowrate supplied by thepump.PRESSURE PROPORTIONERS OR FOAMINJECTORS (ZR type)Foam injectors are utilized for foam systemswith different independent foamoutlets which can worksimultaneously or separatelyand are particularly suitableif the requirement is given tooperate simultaneously partof the outlets with water andpart of the outlets with foam (remote controlledfoam/water monitors systems).VENTURI BALANCE PRESSURE FOAM PRO-PORTIONERS FOR VARIABLE FLOWRATE(VZ-R type)The Venturi balance pressurefoam proportioners for variableflowrate are utilized for foamsystems with differentindependent foam outletswhich can work simultaneouslyor separately. The balance pressure foam proportioner forvariable flowrate regulate automatically thecorrect foam compound admixing percentageto a variable water flow in a range 1:10 (forexample, the same foam proportioner issuitable for admixing automatically the properfoam compound percentage in a foam systemwith 10 monitors both if only 1 monitor isworking singularly and if all monitors areworking simultaneously).PORTABLE LOW EXPANSION FOAMMAKINGBRANCH PIPES (LS type)Portable low expansion foammaking branchpipes are used in mobile hose lines withwater/foam premix and are suitable to producea low expansion foam for extinguishing fires offlammable liquids or of solid materials.Their purpose is to add air to the foam/waterpremix stream forming a fire extinguishing lowexpansion foam with an expansion rate ofabout 1:7. Portable low expansion foammakingbranch pipes can be used only inconnection with mobile inline inductors or withother foam proportioning systems.15www.caccialanza.eu

16BLADDER TANKSDISPLACEMENT LIQUID FOAM PRO-PORTIONERS FOR VARIABLE FLOWRATE- BLADDER TANKS (MSL/E type, MSLtype, MSL/O type)The displacement liquid foam proportionersfor variable flowrate (bladder tanks)are utilized for foam systems with differentindependent foam outlets which can worksimultaneously or separately. The displacement liquid foam proportionersfor variable flowrate regulate automaticallythe correct foam extract admixingpercentage to a variable water flow in arange 1:8 (for example, the same foamimageproportioner is suitable for admixingautomatically the properfoam compound percentagein a foam system with 8monitors both if only 1monitor is working singularlyand if all monitorsare working simultaneously).Compared to the Venturiproportioners, the high advantage of thedisplacement liquid foam proportioners isthat they don't require the installation of afoam compound pump (the admixing ofthe foam compound to the water flow isautomatically provided by the membrane inthe bladder tank).Another advantage of thedisplacement liquid foam proportioners isthat they include also the foam compoundstorage tank. Caccialanza & C. displacementliquid foam proportioners for variableflowrate are supplied:• with vertical tank and membrane fixedonly at the top of the tank (MSL/E type)• with vertical tank and membrane fixedat the top and at the bottom of the tank(MSL type)• with horizontal tank (MSL/O type)In the versions:• with single or doubletank• with capacity of thetanks from 400 lt. to13.000 lt.and are available forfollowing water/premixflowrate ranges:• DN 4" - 200÷1.600 lt/min• DN 6" - 400÷3.200 lt/min• DN 8" - 800÷6.400 lt/min• DN 10" - 1.200÷9.600 lt/min• DN 12" - 2.000÷16.000 lt/min• DN 14" - 2.500÷20.000 lt/minThe MSL/E, MSL and MSL/O type displacementliquid foam proportioners forvariable flowrate are provided with a foamcompound admixing percentage regulatingvalve which allows the regulation of theadmixing percentage between 1% and 6%.www.caccialanza.eu
