2) By tramA tram stop is situated in front of the main railway station.To Neředín take a tram no. 2 or 7 and get off at the last stop/terminus.A price of the ticket is 14,- CZK (20,- CZK, if bought on the board from adriver). It is necesarry to stamp the ticket on the board. Tickets are availableat newsagents´ or there are also vending machines situated near the railwaystation´s main entrance.Should you feel better with some assistance right upon your arrival in Olomouc,please contact the student´s buddy service in advance at esnup.buddy@gmail.comor visit www.esnup.upol.czYou may ask a Czech student e.g. to pick you up at Olomouc railway station andaccompany you to the dormitory. Un<strong>for</strong>tunately, neither the university nor the buddyservice can arrange such a service from the Prague airport.Buddy System is organized by ESN UP (<strong>Erasmus</strong> Student Network at PalackýUniversity). It is designed to provide <strong>incoming</strong> <strong>students</strong> with a smooth start intostudies at PU.


Housing <strong>for</strong> all new <strong>Erasmus</strong> <strong>students</strong> is booked in <strong>students</strong>´ halls ofresidence in Neředín campus (Neředín = a part of the city where the halls ofresidence are situated)Address: VSK Neředín (Neředín Hall of Residence)U Letiště 12771 11 Olomouchttp://www.skm.upol.cz/en/In Neředín, at the campus, enter a partly glass round shaped building with thereception desk, the building itself is immediately visible from the tram stop since it issituated in the middle of the campus. Planning your arrival date please note that aservice at the reception is non-stop, though between midnight and 6 a.m. you willhave to ring the bell to get in. At the reception, introduce yourself as an <strong>Erasmus</strong>student, identify yourself with ID or with a passport. You will get a key, sign ahousing contract and pay a refundable deposit of 1 500,- CZK (approx. 60 Euro).Should you make comments on housing, be so kind and in<strong>for</strong>m the InternationalRelations Office/Mrs. Hamdanieh or in case you deal with some emergency problems,get immediately in touch with a lady at the reception or in<strong>for</strong>m the housing office inNeředín. In any case do not do any repairs by yourself, there are servicemen indorms.


Orientation ProgrammeFebruary 4, 2013 - February 8, 2013includes important in<strong>for</strong>mation about studying at Palacký University as well aspractical in<strong>for</strong>mation that may help <strong>students</strong> in adjusting to the new enviroment.Welcome Meeting starts at 10 a. m. in the premises of the Main MeetingHall (Aula), Křížkovského street, Olomouc.Meeting point is a courtyard at Křížkovského street no. 8 where Czech<strong>students</strong> (ESN UP members) will wait <strong>for</strong> <strong>incoming</strong> <strong>students</strong>.


How to get to Palacký University (from dormitory in Neředín) ?Take a tram no. 2 (the best choice because you will not have to change the trams),pass several stops, get off at „Náměstí Republiky“ (the eighth stop), in front ofyou there is a car park, go straight on, the upper line on your left hand side isKřížkovského street, go on <strong>for</strong> about 50 m and on your right hand side look <strong>for</strong> no. 8,come in and wait at the courtyard (a small courtyard with a fountain and four trees –see the picture above).Olomouc Public Transport – Timetable:http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/olomouc/spojeni/Be so kind and note that <strong>for</strong> organizational purposes (registration) it isimportant to come in time, 5-10 minutes be<strong>for</strong>e are appreciated.Transportation from Neředín to Křížkovského street takes about 20 min.At the meeting, every <strong>incoming</strong> student will get a file with a printed programme ofthe orientation week and some other in<strong>for</strong>mation materials. A sightseeing tour of thetown, a visit of the Town Hall, meeting with a police officer, interesting lectures,Survival Czech Course (<strong>for</strong> real beginners), Tram Party, Welcome Party and a triporganized by Czech <strong>students</strong>, last but not least meetings with teachers/departmentalcoordinators (upon previous agreement) will be offered.For practical reasons, <strong>students</strong> will be divided into groups, each having its timetableof activities.Students who will arrive during the orientation week and are interested injoining at least some part of the orientation week programme, should firstreport to the International Relations Office, Křížkovského 8 in order toobtain in<strong>for</strong>mation on ongoing activities.Students who will not be able to take part in the orientation programme are askedto contact the International Relations Office, Křížkovského 8,Mrs. Zuzana Hamdanieh in order to get in<strong>for</strong>mation delivered during the orientation.Monday- Friday: between 8 a.m. – 12 a.m.
