around the yardsAnother Prosafe Accommodation Rig<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> has firmed up a US$295.2 million contract in <strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012 to build a second harshenvironmentsemi-submersible accommodation rig for Prosafe, following a Letter of Intent announced earlierin October this year.The rig will be based on the GVA 3000Edesign, similar to the first rig Safe Boreaswhich <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> is currentlyconstructing. Scheduled for delivery nolater than end 2014, the GVA 3000Edesign semi-submersible accommodationrig is capable of operating gangwayconnected in deep water and in harshenvironments alongside fixed platforms,floating platforms and floating productionand offloading vessels, with a fullcomplement of deck cranes and firefightingcapabilities.Suitable for harsh-environment operationsin the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the450-person capacity dynamic positioningclass 3 rig with 12 point mooring will bebuilt in compliance with stringent Norwegianoffshore health and safety standards.<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> will also grant twoadditional options to Prosafe, bringing thetally to three options of accommodationsemi-submersible newbuilds.
