around the yardsAnother Prosafe Accommodation RigJurong Shipyard has firmed up a US$295.2 million contract in November 2012 to build a second harshenvironmentsemi-submersible accommodation rig for Prosafe, following a Letter of Intent announced earlierin October this year.The rig will be based on the GVA 3000Edesign, similar to the first rig Safe Boreaswhich Jurong Shipyard is currentlyconstructing. Scheduled for delivery nolater than end 2014, the GVA 3000Edesign semi-submersible accommodationrig is capable of operating gangwayconnected in deep water and in harshenvironments alongside fixed platforms,floating platforms and floating productionand offloading vessels, with a fullcomplement of deck cranes and firefightingcapabilities.Suitable for harsh-environment operationsin the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the450-person capacity dynamic positioningclass 3 rig with 12 point mooring will bebuilt in compliance with stringent Norwegianoffshore health and safety standards.Jurong Shipyard will also grant twoadditional options to Prosafe, bringing thetally to three options of accommodationsemi-submersible newbuilds.
