around the yardsAnother Prosafe Accommodation Rig<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> has firmed up a US$295.2 million contract in <strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012 to build a second harshenvironmentsemi-submersible accommodation rig for Prosafe, following a Letter of Intent announced earlierin October this year.The rig will be based on the GVA 3000Edesign, similar to the first rig Safe Boreaswhich <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> is currentlyconstructing. Scheduled for delivery nolater than end 2014, the GVA 3000Edesign semi-submersible accommodationrig is capable of operating gangwayconnected in deep water and in harshenvironments alongside fixed platforms,floating platforms and floating productionand offloading vessels, with a fullcomplement of deck cranes and firefightingcapabilities.Suitable for harsh-environment operationsin the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the450-person capacity dynamic positioningclass 3 rig with 12 point mooring will bebuilt in compliance with stringent Norwegianoffshore health and safety standards.<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> will also grant twoadditional options to Prosafe, bringing thetally to three options of accommodationsemi-submersible newbuilds. (Oro Negro).To be built based on PPL <strong>Shipyard</strong>’s proprietary Pacific Class400 design, the rigs are scheduled for delivery by the fourthquarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014. These units will becapable of operating in deeper waters of 400 feet, with increasedaccommodation, full catering facilities and amenities for 150persons. The yard team also carried out sea chestand chain locker cleaning as well as life saving equipmentinspection before rounding up with hull painting works.A renewed Stolt Creativity after repairs at <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong>.Stolt Creativity, a 176.75m x 31.08m x 15.62mchemical/production tanker, made her presence in<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> between October and <strong>Nov</strong>ember2012 for her third special survey.The major repair job for the 37,271 dwt vessel was thereplacement of three sets of exhaust gas boilers with theowner's equipment in the funnel space. During her stopover,the yard team also renewed her chain locker housing,anchor chains and gypsy wheel bearings as well as steeringgear. ship repairsPowering Leo PerdanaSamudra Nidhi on CourseLeo Perdana, a 33,423 dwt containership ownedby Tokei Kaiun <strong>Ltd</strong>, revisited <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong> in<strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012, two years after her visit in 2010.Works conducted on the 199.93m x 32.20m x 16.60mvessel comprised full grit sweeping on the vertical bottomarea, cleaning and steelwork repairs on the hatch coversas well as overhaul of the main engine piston crowns andcylinder covers. To complete the repairs, hydroblasting andpainting were performed on one of the cargo holds beforethe 2,553 TEU vessel left the yard in <strong>Nov</strong>ember.Samudra Nidhi resting well by the quayside. A new look for Leo Perdana.The 2,189 dwt well stimulation vessel SamudraNidhi, owned by The Shipping Corporation of IndiaLimited, resumed her course in <strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012after completing major repairs and overhaul in<strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong>.Arriving in August, some of the key jobs that the yardperformed on the 82.0m x 18.04m x 7.01m vessel includedthe overhaul of auxiliary engines complete with turbochargers, replacement of high pressure pumps as well asfabrication and installation of new funnels for high pressurepumps.Nueva Fortuna in BloomFreshening up Nueva Fortuna.The 50,992 dwt Nueva Fortuna, a bulk carrierowned by Fafalios Shipping S.A., was in <strong>Jurong</strong><strong>Shipyard</strong> from October to <strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012 for aseries of repair treatments to regain her strengthand vigour.The 189.99m x 32.29m x 16.67m Greek-owned vessel,which last docked at the yard in 2009, received craneturret top reinforcement as well as renewal works on hershell plate and rudder lower pintle bush. The vessel alsounderwent blasting and painting on her hull and cargo holdbefore leaving the yard in radiant condition.Pacific Leo RoarsPacific Leo, a 107,127 dwt oil tanker measuring246.80m x 42.03m x 21.30m and managed by IinoMarine Service Co. <strong>Ltd</strong>, docked in <strong>Jurong</strong> <strong>Shipyard</strong>from October and <strong>Nov</strong>ember 2012 for repair andmaintenance works, following her last visit in2010.As part of the repair operation, overhaul and renewal workswere carried out on the main engine, windlass and winchbrake lining, accommodation ladders as well as the coolerplates. In addition to valves overhaul and tailshaft withdrawal,the propeller and exhaust boilers were also cleaned. HappeningsGift of $315,350 in SchoolBAG GrantsReflecting Sembcorp Marine’s commitment in nurturing children and youths, the Group and its subsidiariescontributed $315,350 in financial grants through its School Book Assistance Grant (SchoolBAG) programme,benefitting 1,578 needy students from 85 schools in 2012.During the presentation ceremony held at Woodgrove SecondarySchool on <strong>Nov</strong>ember 9, 2012, student representatives receivedthe SchoolBAG cheques from Guest-of-Honour Mdm HalimahYacob, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore and formerMinister of State for Social and Family Development. Launchedin 2001, the Group’s SchoolBAG programme extends a helpinghand to students from low-income families by subsidising the costof purchasing textbooks, uniforms, stationery and other basicschool items as well as enrichment activities.
