Result:Three U-PASS referendums were passed (College of New Caledonia, University ofNorthern British Columbia graduate students and University of the Fraser Valley) with two U-PASSimplementations (University of Northern British Columbia undergraduate and graduate students).Target: Assist local governments in maximizing the number of successful applications to federal fundingprograms currently in place.Result:Municipalities advanced transit supportive projects in several regions including Victoria,Kelowna, as well as 42 communities receiving Public <strong>Transit</strong> Agreement/Public <strong>Transit</strong>Infrastructure Program funding.Target: Complete conversion of conventional bus fleet to full low-floor/accessiblestatus by Year 3 (2011/12).Result:Developed a fleet expansion and replacement program to ensure a fully accessible fleet by 2010.GOAL 3Work with stakeholders to enhance support for and funding of <strong>BC</strong> <strong>Transit</strong>’s programs and services.OBJECTIVE 1: Working with the Canadian Urban <strong>Transit</strong> Association, Federation of Canadian Municipalities andothers to encourage the adoption of a national transit strategy with predictable long term federal funding andsupport for the transit industry.Target: Ongoing contribution to Canadian Urban <strong>Transit</strong> Association, Federation of CanadianMunicipalities and the Union of British Columbia Municipalities activities in support of a nationaltransit strategy and enhanced federal funding.Result:<strong>BC</strong> <strong>Transit</strong> continued to play an active role on the national scene working with othertransit systems and organizations to encourage continued investment in urban transitby the federal government.OBJECTIVE 2: Working with business, major employers, health authorities and other public institutions to identifynew sources of support for transit program delivery.Target: A minimum of one new (non-municipal) funding partner per annum.Result:Implemented service to Mt Waddington area through funding with Health Authority.Initialized service between Duncan and Victoria with provincial funding.Implemented U-PASS programs with post-secondary institutions.Implemented Pro-PASS program in Kamloops.16<strong>BC</strong> TRANSIT <strong>2008</strong>/<strong>09</strong> <strong>ANNUAL</strong> <strong>REPORT</strong>
