RWhat is the Reliable <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Power</strong>®Provider (RP3 ) program?RP 3 is the <strong>American</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (APPA) program that recognizespublic power utilities that demonstrate high proficiency in four areas: reliability,safety, work force development, and system improvement. Criteria within each ofthese areas are based upon sound business practices and recognized industrybest practices.Utilities that successfully meet the requirements in each of the four areas earnthe RP 3 designation at the Diamond, Platinum, or Gold level. The Diamonddesignation is awarded to utilities that meet 98-100% of the defined criteria.The Platinum designation is awarded to utilities meeting 90-97% of the criteria,and the Gold designation is awarded to utilities that achieve 80-89% of the RP 3Program criteria. An RP 3 designation is valid for a three year period. Utilities thatwish to maintain their RP 3 status must re-apply every three years.


What is the RP3 Industry Support Council?The RP3 Industry Support Council is comprised of industry partners whoseprimary business function complements the RP3 Program’s mission andpurpose. Partner participation and input is critical to the program’s success.Who can participate in the RP3 Industry Support Council?To participate in the RP3 Industry Support Council, an organization must bean APPA corporate associate member. Annual corporate associate dues are$3,000; $1,500 if your company meets federal Small Business Administrationstandards. Information on membership benefits and an application form areincluded in this <strong>brochure</strong>.Why should my company belong to the RP3 Industry Support Council?By participating in the RP3 Industry Support Council, you will have special accessto and visibility with decision-makers who are interested in improving theirutility’s safety and reliability.
