WE HAVE BEEN USING CARBON.<br />
Pull out a single hair and split it ten times along its length. This is approximately the size of<br />
carbon fibre, the material that we use to make the dreams of a carbon bicycle come true.<br />
Now tear apart the hair along its length. This is easy. But you would not succeed to tear<br />
apart even a single carbon fibre, as its tensile strength is four times higher than that of the<br />
best steel alloy.<br />

Of course, we do not work with single carbon fibres.<br />
They are bundled, weaved into fabric and impregnated<br />
with epoxy resin.<br />
Only then do you have the material that revolutionised<br />
the art of frame construction with its spectacular<br />
stiffness to weight ratio.<br />
The raw material is one thing. Using it in the best way<br />
possible is another. For a perfect carbon frame, you<br />
need an intelligent carbon fibre layup.
Filigree parts need to withstand extreme forces.<br />
The Lay-up makes it possible to construct rear sections<br />
that are horizontally stiff and vertically flexible at the<br />
same time. The result: High stiffness values allow you<br />
to bring all your muscle power directly to the wheels<br />
and to the asphalt, while at the same time the frame's<br />
vertical flexibility feels very comfortable on bumpy trails.<br />
Many parameters to the carbon manufacturing process<br />
need to be tweaked individually for each section of the<br />

Carefully fine-tuned tubes: Modern esthetics meet thought-through technology. Calculated tube<br />
profiles, accurate welding seams, and the convincing characteristics of aluminum ensure riding<br />
pleasure beyond comparison.
Powerful Forward Drive<br />
The STEVENS carbon forks use an optimized profile at the head of the fork.<br />
The bottom diameter is – at 31.75 mm – larger than the top diameter at 28.6 mm.<br />

Straightforwardness pays off, especially when<br />
routing brake cables. The more the cables are<br />
bent, the weaker your brake power. We solve this<br />
problem by embedding the cable inside the top<br />
tube, routing it through the seat cluster that holds<br />
the comfortable Ritchey Carbon seatpost and<br />
then directly to the rear section. It’s an extremely<br />
clean and eye-pleasing solution.<br />

Until a short while ago, disc brakes were prohibited in cyclocross races. STEVENS now introduces<br />
the Vapor, which features a carbon fork with 1.5" steerer, Easton system wheels and Avid brakes<br />
with particularly strong cable housings for an optimal pressure point.<br />

Technology and Power<br />
The rear section of the Arena is designed to be powerful and flexible. The hub is held<br />
by metal inserts that allow to easily adjust the wheelbase.<br />
Perfect Materials for Success<br />
The world of track racing revolves counterclockwise, there are only left turns. The<br />
wheels are in clockwise rotation, however. The track bicycle frame needs to be particularly<br />
stiff to be as efficient as possible, which also helps to support the rider in the<br />
enormously fast left turns. To guarantee a maximum of stiffness the Arena makes use<br />
of extremely strong 1K carbon fibre.<br />

Do it better! That's how it starts, back in<br />
1990. They know good bicycles inside and<br />
out, the avid cyclists and bike salesmen, the<br />
brothers Wolfgang and Werner von Hacht<br />
from Hamburg. “But yet better bicycles can<br />
be built.” They have often talked about it.<br />
Now they want to prove it to themselves.<br />
The time for STEVENS has come.<br />
In 1991 it's a time for new beginnings in<br />
reunited Germany. That includes the bicycle<br />
trade. The Eurobike, today the most important<br />
bicycle show in the world, premières in<br />
Friedrichshafen. There, on the bike trade's<br />
new stage, among the big names, the first<br />
collection of the Hamburg start-up is displayed<br />
as well:<br />
Light construction with the highest possible<br />
technical precision, geared for performance<br />
and quality without compromise. And the<br />
design: uncomplicated, transparent, seminal!<br />
STEVENS is distinctively STEVENS from the<br />
beginning.<br />
The idea of the bicycle is ingeniously simple.<br />
It is equally plain and simple to implement,<br />
which obviously hits the nerve of many<br />
people. After only two years, more than 200<br />
specialized bicycle shops stock the new<br />
brand, there are the first STEVENS branches<br />
and not even five years after opening, it has<br />
happened: A STEVENS racing bike scores<br />
highest honors in “Tour”, Europe's leading<br />
racing bike magazine.<br />
Since then, hardly a year goes by when we<br />
on the Elbe aren't excited about a distinguished<br />
award: Several times, the readers of<br />
the magazines “BIKE” and “MountainBIKE”<br />
elect a STEVENS creation to “Bike of the<br />
Year”. The trade magazine SAZ repeatedly<br />
nominates the brand “Germany's most<br />
attractive bicycle brand”.<br />
The Stiftung Warentest gives their “very<br />
good” and the title of “best product” to<br />
Hamburg. The magazine “Trekkingbike”<br />
presents their highest award, the “milestone”...<br />
and not to forget: the countless<br />
outstanding test results from twenty years.<br />
We are proud of so much praise. It motivates.<br />
So do the critical judgements of<br />
our “test drivers”, all the professionals and<br />
amateurs riding our bikes in training and<br />
competitions. World champions, Olympic<br />
champions, world cup winners, European<br />
champions, national champions are among<br />
them – mostly in the particularly merciless<br />
disciplines of triathlon, cyclocross, time trial<br />
racing. They are relentless when competing<br />
for the best performance. They are<br />
remorseless in their high expectations of<br />
their bikes. This helps us like nothing else to<br />
keep true to the STEVENS principle for the<br />
