Hotel OverviewTraders Hotel, Singapore is a vibrant business hotel in an excellent location andfeatures friendly and efficient service for today’s smart traveller.The hotel is located on Cuscaden Road, in adistrict known as Orchard Spring, a commercialand residential area just a short walk from OrchardRoad, Singapore’s prime shopping, business andentertainment hub. Dining and EntertainmentRestaurants and bars include Cafebizlocated at the lobby level, serving anextensive choice of international andAsian dishes for breakfast, lunch anddinner; buffet or à la carte. Of coolsimplicity, casual elegance andmodern functionality, this interactivedining restaurant offers excellent food with a convivial ambience. Outdoor diningis available at Cafebiz Alfresco.Adjoining Cafebiz in the lobby is Cafebiz+. This cosy corner makes an idealmeeting point and serves gourmet coffees, aperitifs and wines. Guests can enjoyan express breakfast or afternoon tea.Ah Hoi’s Kitchen is the hotel’s alfresco poolside restaurant and bar offering localdishes from the wok. The restaurant takes its concept from the local coffee shopor kopitiam. For lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy delicious local stir-frieddishes and fresh seafood. The interior of the restaurant is air-conditioned, whilealfresco dining is at the patio overlooking the pool. Specialities include Sri<strong>La</strong>nkan chilli crab, black or white pepper crab, black pepper kway teow, honeyglazed ginger chicken, lobster beehoon and grilled pork ribs in sweet champagnesauce.5


Rumpoles is simply a bar. It was votedone of the Top Nine Bars in Town byCitta Bella magazine (October 2004)and one of Asia’s Great GatheringPlaces by Newsweek International(November 1999) - the only bar inSingapore to win this accolade. Rumpoles bar, which is located on level two,was upgraded in October 2007 and features a contemporary interior with touchesof traditional decorative features such as plush leather seats and wooden blinds.The menu offers a selection of beverages from cocktails to draught beer as wellas hot mains and snacks.6


Banqueting and Function SpaceFor meetings and banquets, TradersHotel, Singapore offers 10 functionrooms with state-of-the-artequipment for lighting, computergrade circuits and personalised service for events of varying sizes andconfigurations. Other Services and FacilitiesTraders Hotel, Singapore is one of the first businesshotels in Singapore to introduce laundromats on theguestroom floors for the convenience of its guests.Self-service washers and dryers are located on fourlevels. Studio Apartments on level 16, suitable forlong-stays guests or families, have a same-floorlaundromat and the added advantage of akitchenette complete with microwave oven,cookware and a regular-sized fridge.A complimentary scheduled shuttle service provides daily transfers betweenTraders Hotel, Singapore and its sister property, <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong> Hotel, Singapore, aswell as to Orchard Road. On weekday mornings the service includes the MRT(subway) station, Suntec City, selected industrial parks and the central businessdistrict at Shenton Way.9


Who’s Who at Traders Hotel, SingaporeTina Sim, General ManagerMs Sim joined Traders Hotel, Singapore as its general manager on 25 July 2012,and is the first female general manager of the hotel. She has been with <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong> Hotels and Resorts for seven years.Ms Sim first joined <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong> Hotels and Resorts in 2004 at Pudong <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong>,Shanghai as the executive assistant manager – Rooms Division. In 2007, shereturned to Singapore as the executive assistant manager – Rooms Division atRasa Sentosa Resort, and in the same year was promoted to resident manager.She left the group in 2009 for one year.Returning to <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong> Hotels and Resorts in January 2011, Ms Sim wasappointed hotel manager of <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong>’s Rasa Sentosa Resort, Singapore,which had just been refurbished. In August 2011, she was transferred to <strong>Shangri</strong>-<strong>La</strong> Hotel, Singapore in a similar capacity, remaining there until her latestpromotion to general manager of Traders Hotel, Singapore.Ms Sim has 24 years of experience in hotel operations at five-star hotels andresorts, in Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Her career in the hospitalityindustry started in 1988, when she was a front office agent at The WestinStamford & Westin Plaza, Singapore. Ms Sim is a graduate of Nanyang JuniorCollege. She was born and raised in Singapore.10
