The futureFrom prototypes to viable technology <strong>in</strong> just a few years, wave <strong>and</strong> tidal technologies are <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly capable of mak<strong>in</strong>g asignificant contribution to <strong>the</strong> world’s <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g energy requirements.Large-scale tidal <strong>and</strong> wave arrays have <strong>the</strong> potential toproduce substantial renewable power supplies, while <strong>in</strong>l<strong>and</strong>hydro energy projects can potentially make a real differenceto local power supplies, particularly <strong>in</strong> rural areas <strong>and</strong>develop<strong>in</strong>g countries.<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Haskon<strong>in</strong>g</strong>DHV is one of <strong>the</strong> few consultancies tohave worked with <strong>the</strong> mar<strong>in</strong>e renewable <strong>in</strong>dustry throughdevelopment of technology to fully-realised commercial<strong>in</strong>stallation.
