Voltages from 5 to 15 kVare standard. Other voltages are alsoavailable as custom designs.Also available are conventional loadbank and step-down transformer de-signs (model K875A-MV) mounted ona common structural skid.Cost effective skid mounted medium voltage loadbank system, available from 750 - 2000 KW(model K875A-MV, above).Model K922A (left) is one of several mediumvoltage modules used by a large turbinemanufacturer for production testing.Radiator and Duct Mounted Load BanksThe Avtron model K711 and K711A loadbanks are designed for radiator or ductmounting on diesel engine generatorsets. The load bank is permanentlymounted to the front of the engine generatorand sized to match the width andheight of the radiator core or exhaustduct opening. The load bank utilizes theengine cooling air rather than an internalcooling fan found on conventional loadbanks. This can cause highground fault current (typically 10,000 to20,000 amps) and excessive damage totransformers, generators, motors, wiring,and associated equipment. Inserting anAvtron Neutral Grounding Resistorbetween neutral and ground limits faultcurrent to a safe level (typically 25 to400 amps) while still allowing sufficientcurrent flow to operate fault clearingrelays. Limiting fault current alsoreduces the problem of transient overvoltages(up to six times normal voltage)which can occur during arcing typeground faults.Internal bushings/connection pointseliminate the need for elevating standsor towers to raise live roof bushingsabove personnel.
