There arepallet mounted toolbox and water buttcarriers so that operatives do not haveto lift heavy items onto scaffolding.SafeThe Health and Safety plan is reviewedand updated as work progresses. Safetyinspections are completed by Companypersonnel and the BSI. A separate gatedand barriered footpath is provided to thewelfare facilities through the Gatehouse.Barriered walkways are then providedto and within the work areas. The publicare not at risk from falling debris etc.The Gateman ensures public safety atthe entrance. Plant does not move ‘offSite’. All accidents and ‘near misses’are recorded and followed up. Updatingsafety briefings form part of ‘Toolbox’talks. A safety incentive schemeinvolves all Sub-contractors on Site.The excellent SUSA behaviour safetyscheme is used to promote safetystandards. All first aiders continueto be acknowledged and identified. Allvisitors sign in and all CSCS cards arechecked. As appropriate all visitors areinducted or escorted when on site and allinductions are site specific. Apprenticesare taken on and operatives are providedwith ID. There is an Equal Opportunities/Diversity Policy in place and drugs/alcohol policy: occupational health adviceis provided. The site provides “electroniccigarettes” to encourage operativesto give up smoking. There is specificinformation online for the general publicabout the site on the school web site.AccountableThe CCS banner and poster are displayedwhere they can be seen by the public.John is well aware of the CC Schemeand operatives are told at induction. Thecartoon is displayed in the canteen. ACCS folder is kept on site and head officeforward bulletins to all sites. Safety trainingcourses including SUSA are availablefor all operatives and sub-contractors.Neighbours are told about the Schemein letters. Contact numbers are shownon the hoarding.
