She wasdescribed as a truly inspirational <strong>and</strong> transformational leader who articulates vision, conviction <strong>and</strong>compassion. The judges commended Julie on her calm <strong>and</strong> pragmatic approach, her focus on solutions,<strong>and</strong> the ‘brilliant’ example she sets in supporting staff.Stroke Specialist Nurse Hilary Thompson won the Transforming <strong>Care</strong> with Technology Award. Our fi rst birth was on the 14 February,since then there has been another 15 babies <strong>and</strong> weare delighted that all mums <strong>and</strong> babies are thriving.Challenges Teenage pregnancy can be achallenging issue to deal with <strong>and</strong> our nurses arecoming into the lives of these families at whatcan be an emotional time. However we arefi nding families are very receptive to theprogramme <strong>and</strong> are engaging well withnurses.How the Team is making a difference topatients <strong>and</strong> clients This evidence basedprogramme helps to improve health, wellbeing<strong>and</strong> self suffi ciency of fi rst time young parents<strong>and</strong> their children <strong>and</strong> is proven most effective foryoung parents who face social challenges. I’m also a memberof the Daisy Hill Hospital <strong>Health</strong><strong>and</strong> Wellbeing Group for SupportServices staff which meets fourtimes a year. As part of the Group, I co-ordinatedsessions for staff to attend the Man Van when itvisited the Hospital.What is the biggest challenge in your job?I’m part of a team supporting clinical <strong>and</strong>administrative healthcare staff <strong>and</strong> working in abusy environment is a challenge. I cycle two milesto work <strong>and</strong> another 60-100 miles between April <strong>and</strong>November which helps my work-life balance. I likeundertaking new challenges <strong>and</strong> hope to completeCycle Leader Training <strong>and</strong> help organise a Spinathonfor <strong>Southern</strong> Area Hospice Services this year.What gives you the most job satisfaction?Having a job in today’s economic climate <strong>and</strong> doingthe best that I can every day. I took up cycling <strong>and</strong>then gave up smoking. I encourage others to giveup smoking. Rebecca Semple began a sixmonths’ placement in September 2012 with theCraigavon Area Hospital Payroll Team <strong>and</strong> workswith Payroll Team Manager Oonagh Gannon <strong>and</strong>Acting Payroll Manager John Ellison.Rebecca said: “Having recently completeda Business Studies degree this voluntaryplacement 2 days a week gives me great workexperience. I support the team by updatingemployee records on the computer systeminputting sick certifi cates, answering thetelephone <strong>and</strong> fi ling.
