Studentsin grades 9-12should prepare a 1-minutecomedic monologue. Callbacksare Sept. 12. Theshow will be performedNov. 1 and 2.(above, ascene from “Our Town.”)Plans for ProjectGraduation 2017 are underway. Please supportthe event by orderingClass of 2017 T-shirts.Forms are now available onthe website. Students canwear these shirts for fouryears.they were impressedby the class muralsand requested a muralof their own. Shirleyand her art teacher,Eileen Dormer, workedtogether with 1962class member Jan Jesseland her committeeto plan a painting outsidethe school’s mediacenter which befitted theclass’s status. All of the1962 students havetheir names memorializedon the mural.Shirley received a scholarshipfor her work.<strong>West</strong> <strong>Essex</strong> Athletic registrationfor the fall forgrades 7-12 is now underway through July 31. Pleasevisit this link for registrationinformation.Forms for the 2013-14<strong>West</strong> <strong>Essex</strong> <strong>School</strong> Directory,including studentsand parents in the middleand high schools, are nowavailable on the high schooland middle school websites.Directories are $10; $12 atback to school night. Thedeadline to be included inthe directory and to preorderis Aug. 30.Graduation Surveys havebeen sent to the Classesof 2013, 2014 and 2015.Rache La Penta, a freshmanin Mrs. Dormer’s Drawing andComposition class this pastyear, won first place in theGreater <strong>Essex</strong> County Chapterof the American Conferenceon Adversity Poster Art Contest,themed Defining Momentsin Diversity. Her workwas chosen from more than20 pieces of art submitted.The poster depicts Americanscoming together in a crisis.Please note that <strong>West</strong><strong>Essex</strong> <strong>Regional</strong> <strong>School</strong>swill be closed for RoshHashanah Sept. 5 & 6.The first day of the2013-14 school yearwill now be Monday,September 9.The revised calendar forthe 2013-14 school yearis now posted on the<strong>West</strong> <strong>Essex</strong> website. Thestudents of the month were also honored by the<strong>West</strong> <strong>Essex</strong> <strong>Regional</strong> Board of Education at its lastmeeting.
