social snippets The marriage of a beautiful Princess and a Super Hero took place on the 12th May 2012. The stunning couple was SHARNA HUETT and CONDY KWAN. Major Lindsay Smith from the Salvation Army performed the wedding ceremony at the Hornsby Citadel. The bride’s attendants were Emma Tuyau, Amarni Huett-Akau and Natalie Slyney. The groom was attended by Donny Kwan, Lachlan Liao and Bevan Shearer. A reception was held at Springfield House, Dural for 100 guests. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Both families wish them a long and happy life together. Engagement MICHELLE LAFOU AND MICHAEL ROLLS are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter TAHNEE LAFOU of seven hills to JUSTINE BROWNE son of MARGARET AND ANDREW BROWNE of Hornsby. Harry’s community service developed early. He was a foundation member of Harbord Diggers Club and Warringah Junior Rugby Union Club. He believed that you learned lessons of life from team sports. Harry quickly became involved in Berowra Community from 1959, joining Berowra RSL SB, Berowra Cricket Club and Berowra Soccer Club. He became ‘All Age’ Soccer Team Manager, Secretary of the soccer club during its greatest expansion period. He was also President, Sect-Mgr, Life Member and Patron of the Berowra Bowling Club. Harry loved the community spirit of Berowra and gave his time for any cause to do with children. Harry respected all and was respected by all. Many Berowra residents attended the service including Sue Murray and Anita Doherty (neighbours) who were members with Harry of the Berowra Mixed Probus Club. “Dad considered children to be the hope of tomorrow and therefore actively supported youth sports clubs, youth bands etc. He loved attending local schools to tell pupils about ANZAC, WW1 and WW2 history,” said Ian. In 2010 as a result of his active support for Legacy, Harry was honoured with the title ‘Friend of Legacy’. “Harry did wonderful work for Legacy.....he was a man for all seasons,” said Richard Dawes, Pres Hornsby Legacy. He carried out his duties with diligence and dedication,” said Bob Dobson of Mt Kuring-gai, Pres Berowra RSL SB. Harry treated his RSL mates Bill Foster and Jim Maguire like brothers. Sadly Bill passed away shortly afterwards on the night of Thursday 19 July. Our local politicians also attended: Matt Kean our State MP for Hornsby and Philip Ruddock our Federal MP for Berowra attended the funeral. At the funeral the song recorded by Frank Sinatra ‘I did it My Way’ was played during the flower laying by the family The funeral service concluded with the WW2 song ‘We’ll Meet Again’ recorded by Vera Lynn (born Vera Margaret Welch). “Harry was of the generation that saved the world for our children. He was an ordinary man in an extraordinary generation, the likes that we will never see again,” said Ian. Yes, Harry was of an era that many today cannot comprehend. He grew up in the Great Depression, WW2 and the hard times of the 1950s. Harry was a product of history and his time. He was an eye-witness to Australia’s major events of the 20th Century. The funeral service was led by Father Frank Vaughan Rtd who was for many years the parish priest at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church Normanhurst. The service was provided by Albert & Meyer of Thornleigh. The Fox family would like to sincerely thank all for the love, care and support shown by your kind gestures of sympathy.
