Synchronous BeltsRPP PLUS Synchronous Fin-Fan BeltSpecial "Z" TwistConstruction for Fin-FanDrives(Air Cooled Heat Exchangers)Recommended PulleysRPP Sprockets(14mm)To reduce lateral movement, standard synchronous belts areconstructed by alternately spiraling“S” and “Z” type cords. Thesynchronous belt cord is made upof a number of small fiber strandstwisted together. These strandscan be twisted either clockwise orcounterclockwise. The two twistdirections are referred to as “S”twist and “Z” twist. Most synchronousbelts are made with both "S”and "Z" twist cord to minimize belttracking forces on the pulleyflanges. When necessary, the lateralmovement of a belt can bepre-determined, if the direction ofrotation is constant (non-reversingdrives).A good example of this is Fin-FanDrives. Because the fin-fan drivehas a vertical shaft, the belt is builtwith Z twist construction only. Thisgives the belt an upward directionof lateral movement. This helpskeep the belt off of the bottomflanges to reduce excessive wearon the bottom side of the belt.Carlisle offers the following specialconstruction "Z" twist synchronousbelts for Fin-Fan air-cooled heatexchanger drives.Recommended Sprockets: RPP (14M)Pitch TopPart Length Width No. WeightNo. mm mm Teeth (Lbs.)3150-14M-55F 3150 55 225 3.773360-14M-55F 3360 55 240 4.023500-14M-55F 3500 55 250 4.193850-14M-55F 3850 55 275 4.603150-14M-85F 3150 85 225 5.823360-14M-85F 3360 85 240 6.203500-14M-85F 3500 85 250 6.463850-14M-85F 3850 85 275 7.10Standard pack quantity is one unless otherwise indicated.43
