A4-1108Floating Self-clinching FastenersFor installation into stainless steel sheetsNEW!Locking and Non-locking ThreadsThese fasteners provide load-bearingthreads in thin sheets as hard asRockwell B 88 / HB 183 and permit upto 0.76 mm adjustment for mating holemisalignment. The self-clinching featureoffers fast and simpleassembly. The fastenersare squeezed into properlysized holes using anystandard press. The sheet Self-lockingType LA4remains flush on one side, and the fastener is permanently clinchedin place. Uniformity of locking torque forType LA4 is equivalent to NASM25027specifications.Non-lockingType A4Features and Benefits Speeds assembly by compensating formating hole misalignment. Permanent installation into stainless steelsheets as thin as 0.97 mm and greater. Provides high torque-out and pushoutresistance in stainless panels. RoHS compliant.Installation1. Prepare properly sized mounting hole in sheet. Do notperform any secondary operations such as deburring.2. Place fastener into the anvil hole and place the mountinghole over the shank of the fastener.3. With the punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply sufficientsqueezing force until flange contacts mounting sheet. Sketchat right shows suggested tooling for applying these forces.PUNCH1.37 mm±0.05 mmPerformance Data (1)METRICThreadCodeTest Sheet Material300 Series Stainless Steel Anvil PunchRetainer Retainer Part PartInstallationPushout Torque-out Number Number(kN)(N) (N•m)M3 40 890 9.6 8013889 975200048M4 53 890 9.6 8013891 975200048M5 57 1100 14.1 8013892 975200048(1) Performance values reported are averages when all installationspecifications and procedures are followed.
