<strong>Island</strong> <strong>Hopping</strong> <strong>Indonesia</strong> : Group TourArrive in to the famed Camp Leakey (Post 3) around 2pm and take your timelooking around the research centre and meeting some of the scientists, researchersand local rangers....as well as the resident orang-utan! Again you will trek further into the forest for the feeding session where you may like to try and spot the orangutanfrom the family photos they have on the walls of the research centre. Afterthe feeding you may like to take a short trek through the forest or you can headstraight back to your boat to return to Rimba Lodge. If you are lucky you may see orang-utan swinging through the treesheading to or from the feeding site. Of course the jungle is filled with othercreatures and you only have to be patient to see the wildlife all around you.Back on the boat you will take a freshly prepared lunch on route back downstreamto the rainforest station of Pesalat. This is a Government and NGO sponsored sitethat is attempting to reseed a part of the national park largely destroyed by illegallogging and forest fires. It is quite amazing to see the work involved in trying torecreate rainforest that has taken thousands of years to develop. Your guide willhelp you chat to the local villagers working here and you may come acrossvolunteers from other countries that are here to help.Slightly further downstream is Tanjung Harapan (Post 1) where you can travel in tothe jungle to see the feeding at 3pm. This is the smallest of the posts and sees veryfew visitors. It is a real favourite for <strong>Audley</strong>, the local family that lives here are asfriendly as they come and the kids will be keen to give you a game of ping pong onthe weathered table in the middle of the jungle! You can enjoy a trek around thearea after the feeding or cross over the river to the Tanjung Harapan village. This isthe largest settlement in the area and you can walk through the tiny village seeingthe playful kids, small fish farms and local school.
