preto, že kontajnery a tovary v nich netreba až tak dôkladne chrániťpred koróziou ako pri preprave po moriach. Lode ich vezú cez viaceréklimatické zóny planéty.Prvé vlaky z Ázie do Európy cez TKD v Dobrej boli vypravené koncomroku 2009 a to konkrétne do Rakúska. V priebehu roku 2010 začaliprepravy ucelených vlakov z Ázie do Poľska a Nemecka a z Talianskado Ruska.Dynamický rozvoj hospodárstva SR a svetová globalizáciaekonomiky vytvárajú predpoklad pre rozvoj intermodálnej prepravyna Slovensku. ZSSK CARGO ako železničný dopravca je len jednýmz účastníkov intermodálnej prepravy, ktorej budúci vývoj budezávisieť od spolupráce a vzájomnej súčinnosti všetkých účastníkovprepravného reťazca.Ing. It is an integral part of the transport system ofdeveloped European countries and has a high share in total volumeof transportations in Western Europe. It started slowly and its beginnings were far from easy.Between 1991 and 1994, as a result of social changes, there was adecline in transportations of containers by more than 60% comparedto 1991 and gradual increase in the volume of goods transportationscould only be observed after 1995.At the end of 1997, a new Intermodal Transportation Section wasincluded in the organizational structure of ŽSR (Railways of theSlovak Republic) in order to support the development of intermodaltransport. Since establishment of this section, the 0.5-percent shareof intermodal transportations in total rail freight transport increasedup to 6% in 2009. While 385,627 tonnes were transported in 1997,this year we expect nearly seven times as much (approximately 2.6million tonnes/about 430,000 TEU). Also inter-annual increase intransportations has had rising trend, ranging from 7,000 tonnes in1999 up to 473,000 tonnes in 2008. Decline in transportations of13% was indicated only in 2009 during the global economic crisis.Export or import? The key frame of the intermodal transport in Slovakia is the1997 1998 1999 2000 2001Objem prepravy v tonách / Volume of transportations in tonnes 385 627 425 509 432 440 564 228 632 498Medziročný nárast v tonách / Interannual increase in tonnes 39 882 6 931 131 788 68 270Medziročný nárast v % / Interannual increase in % 10% 2% 30% 12%Celkový nárast 1997-2010 / Total increase 1997-2010 574%
2009 for the AUDI assembly plants between Hungary and Russia bytransit through Slovakia. In 2007, company ZSSK CARGO transportedon average 253 trains monthly, in 2008 - 379 trains, in 2009 - 304trains and in the first seven months of 2010 already 415 trains. In allcases, these were the transportations of large containers.Future shows the signs of growthGrowth curve and positive trend of intermodal transport developmentin Slovakia should continue also in future years. The great advantageof intermodal transport is that it is able to carry almost all typesof goods. Due to the overcrowded highways, frequent traffic jamsand accidents, the intermodal transport remains, for sure, the idealsolution for logistics chains.Great perspective of its development is in transportation of semitrailers, swap bodies and special containers by rail. In Slovakia, thesetransport systems are absent. For seven months of this year, only 542empty swap bodies and 70 arched swap bodies and no semi-trailerswere transported.Another promising direction of development focuses ontransportations to the east. In recent years, there has been a growinginterest of customers in transportations of goods by Trans-SiberianRailway from South-East and Central Asia, the Far and Middle East, where the most developed Western countries moved their productiondue to profitable investments. The cooperation with a subsidiary ofRussian Railways – company TransContainer, which rented a terminalin Dobrá from ZSSK CARGO in 2009, should also support the newtransportations between east and west.international container transportation between Slovakia and ports inGermany, the Netherlands and Slovenia. Up to 86% of transportationsare provided by block trains. The ratio between the individual regimes of international transport(export, import, transit) has been gradually changing. In the past, transit transport had the crucial share (up to 60%) and import figureswere considerably higher than the export ones. In recent years, thevolumes of transportation in export and import have been gettingmore balanced and in 2010, they are supposed to be approximatelyat the same level of 41%. The share of transit transport in 2010 isestimated at 13%. The share of domestic transport usually rangesfrom 2 to 4%, since the small area of Slovakia does not provide muchspace for this type of transportation. Intermodal transport is efficientand competitive against road transport only at longer transportationdistances.Boom has come with the car makersThe main incentives for growth of intermodal transport andintroduction of new regular train lines of intermodal transportationwere construction of new assembly plants for electrical andautomotive industry, construction of a new private terminalin Dunajská Streda, terminal development in Žilina as well asrefurbishment and procurement of special wagons for intermodaltransportation. In 2007, after several years of preparations, thefirst transportations of containers, carried out from Asia to Slovakiathrough the port of Koper, commenced. Regular trains between the carassembly plants in Slovakia and Russia started at the end of 2007 (forKIA) and in 2008 (for VW). Similar transportations began at the end ofTrains versus shipsTransContainer is the largest Russian operator, with tens of terminalslocated near major industrial centres throughout Russia. It has itsown rolling stock of special wagons and containers. TransContainercreated competition for forwarding by sea route, since it transportscontainers from Asia to Europe by rail through Combined TransportTerminal in Dobrá. The advantage of this type of transportation is thatwhile goods transported by seagoing ships from Asia usually arrivein Europe after about 40 days, transportation by rail can shorten thetransit time by more than half. The land route is more advantageousalso because the containers and goods in them do not need to beas carefully protected against corrosion as if they were transportedby sea. Ships carry these through various climate zones across theplanet. The first trains from Asia to Europe via Combined Transport Terminal inDobrá were dispatched at the end of 2009, namely to Austria. During2010, the transportations of block trains began from Asia to Polandand Germany and from Italy to Russia.Dynamic development of the Slovak economy and globalization of theworld economy create conditions for the development of intermodaltransport in Slovakia.ZSSK CARGO as a rail carrier is just one of the participants inintermodal transport. Its future development will depend oncooperation and mutual collaboration of all participants in transportchain.Alena REMÁKOVÁIntermodal Transportation SectionPredpoklad/Projection2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010756 261 856 225 951 875 1 275 007 1 335 048 1 806 999 2 280 025 1 984 902 2 600 000123 763 99 964 95 650 323 132 60 041 471 951 473 026 -295 123 615 09820% 13% 11% 34% 5% 35% 26% -13% 31%22/23
