Speech i Fine Arts i Scholarship Information SheetApplication Requirements for Speech Competition1. Fill out the Incoming Freshman Speech Scholarship Application Form and submit it to GC’s Admissions officeby December 14, 2012. Additional information is on the next page.2. Fill out the Incoming Freshman Fine Arts Scholarship Application Form and submit it to GC’sAdmissions office by December 14, 2012.2. Attach a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current theatre or music instructor or an adult other thanthe parent who is familiar with the student’s experience.3. Confirm interview or audition date and time (see procedure below).Theatre scholarship applicantsStudents applying for theatre scholarships can sign up for an audition date and time slot on the drama website:www.gctheater.org. Click on the “scholarship auditions” tab. Follow the directions to sign-up for an audition date and timeslot to get monologues and other resources for your audition. Candidates are required to come to auditions with a memorizedone-minute monologue appropriate for his or her age. Applicants will be led through a warm-up and group cold-reading inaddition to performing their prepared monologue. e audition will tale approximately 45 minutes.Music applicantsStudents applying for music scholarships will download audition materials from the music website:www.goodcounselmusic.org after December 20, 2012. Click on the “scholarship auditions” tab. Follow the directions todownload the appropriate audition materials and to sign-up for an audition date and time-slot.Art applicantsApplicants must send a digital portfolio (digital photos on a disk) of original artwork (10–12 pieces) which gives evidence ofartistic growth and development. e portfolio deadline is January 18, 2013. At the interview applicants will present theirportfolio and be invited to discuss their particular interests in art. As part of the interview, they will be asked to demonstratebasic drawing skills. e skills test will consist of basic shading techniques. Appointments for the Art Scholarships will beassigned based on the choices selected on the Fine Arts Application Form.
