(Photo by <strong>OIG</strong>, 2011)<strong>OIG</strong> has established a working relationship with <strong>Pakistan</strong>’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB),the primary law enforcement agency in <strong>Pakistan</strong> responsible for investigating white-collar crime<strong>and</strong> public corruption <strong>and</strong> the only national law enforcement agency authorized to conductinvestigations in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). <strong>OIG</strong> has coordinated effortswith NAB since early 2010 <strong>and</strong> collaborates with it on investigations.<strong>OIG</strong> investigators also conduct fraud awareness briefings to alert participants—employees,contractors, grantees, <strong>and</strong> subrecipients—to fraudulent practices <strong>and</strong> schemes <strong>and</strong> to provideguidance on how to report fraud. <strong>OIG</strong> has provided 46 fraud awareness briefings in <strong>Pakistan</strong> to1,183 participants since FY 2003. During the reporting period, special agents in <strong>Pakistan</strong> deliveredseven fraud awareness briefings attended by 128 participants.<strong>OIG</strong> also provides training on st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> requirements for financial audits of U.S. Governmentfunds. During the quarter, <strong>OIG</strong> provided this training to 73 participants from NGOs, 13 <strong>Pakistan</strong>igovernment officials, <strong>and</strong> 19 staff members at <strong>USAID</strong>/<strong>Pakistan</strong>. In FY 2012, <strong>USAID</strong> <strong>OIG</strong> alsoprovided this training to 13 employees of <strong>Pakistan</strong>’s Office of the Auditor General <strong>and</strong>55 participants from 24 local public accounting firms.28 <strong>USAID</strong> <strong>OIG</strong> <strong>Afghanistan</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Pakistan</strong> <strong>Oversight</strong> <strong>Report</strong>
