Special education spending includes salaries for teachers,central <strong>of</strong>fice special education staffing, and resource pr<strong>of</strong>essionals such as mental healthproviders. After salaries, <strong>the</strong> largest expenditures for special education include nonpublicschool placements ($7.5 million in FY 2008‐09) and transportation ($3.2 million in FY 2008‐09).MDUSD’s Board <strong>of</strong> Educationannually approves <strong>the</strong> transfer <strong>of</strong> general funding to specialeducation funding.
