There was statutory ration system in the State andmore than one lakh tonne was allotted <strong>for</strong> the State per year. But nowthat has been restricted. With regard to APL, because of the givensituation which is prevailing in the State and due to shortage ofproduction, naturally, the State owes an assistance from the Centre andthat was there. The State is producing cash crops which are exportedand the country is gaining from that. So, naturally, a reciprocal gesturewas there earlier and that should be retained. That is what we aresaying. ...(Interruptions)...PROF. P.J. KURIEN: Sir, it was the Union Government whichencouraged Kerala to go <strong>for</strong> cash crops. For example, we wereimporting rubber by giving <strong>for</strong>eign exchange.
