<strong>SSS</strong>/4G/6.35222<strong>Uncorrected</strong>/ <strong>Not</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>publication</strong>- <strong>08.12.2009</strong>SHRI SHARAD PAWAR (CONTD.):If the minimum support price hasgone up from Rs. 642 to Rs. 1,100 definitely, there will be some impactin the price front in the open market. It is not possible to get or makeavailable that wheat at the same price which was there around one yearor two years or three years back. Similar is the case with paddy. Now,<strong>for</strong> the common variety of paddy, the minimum support price has beenincreased from Rs. 560, per quintal, to Rs. 1000 in the year 2009. Thatmeans, in percentage terms, the MSP of wheat has been increased by72 per cent, and paddy, by 79 per cent. So, if the paddy price hasbeen enhanced by 79 per cent <strong>for</strong> the last three to four years, definitely,there will be some impact on the prices of rice. When we give Rs. 1000per quintal, <strong>for</strong> the paddy crop, that means, actually, we are getting 60kgs of rice. That is why Rs. 1000 is the price of paddy, which meansRs. 1600 is the State price of rice, plus conversion charges, acquisitioncharges, mandi charges and State Government's taxes. So, altogether,practically it goes to, somewhat, near Rs. 2000. But whatever figureswhich have been published, we have a system, that Delhi Governmentwill communicate the figures of the various essential commodities to theGovernment of India's Consumer Affairs Department daily. They collectthe figures from a number of shops, and whatever latest in<strong>for</strong>mationwhich I got from Delhi Government, six months back, the retail price ofrice was at Rs. 20 per kg. Three months back, it had gone up to Rs.21. One month back, it had gone up to Rs. 22. One week back, it wasRs. 23, and as on today, it is Rs. 23. Yes, it is true it is going on thehigher side but we are not in a position to buy fast. One thing is, if the
