I have seen that there are some allegations against me thatbecause of my statements, certain things are happening and I don'twant to hide. I have definitely tried to tell the truth to the countrymenbecause I was quite convinced that this type of situation will continue <strong>for</strong>such and such period. The issue is not restricted to prices of essentialcommodities. I recollect, in my young days, I was in the Congress Party.And, the Working Committee of the Congress Party in 1960s took adecision that nationalisation of foodgrains failed. That was a majordecision. Practically, within three months' time, the Party took anotherdecision and withdrew from that decision because the Government andthe Party realised that it was not a subject which the Government or theGovernment machinery or officers would control and implement veryeffectively to protect the interests of public. Here, if we have to resolvethis issue, we have to take a long-term approach.
