Sir, I may not be able tocomplete my task, except touch and go to the issues.Sir, coming straight to the subject, the macro-level challenges orthreats like global meltdown, global warming, global recession, etc., havegot a direct impact on inflation also, but, not to the extent, as othershave highlighted. I agree that it has a marginal affect. This is how I

Prime Minister'sobservation, followed by the Deputy Chairman of the PlanningCommission, who had said that all these threats and challenges havegot an affect on India. But, it has got only a marginal affect. That ishow they look at it. In such a situation, one cannot take excuse that it isdue to things beyond their control. As far as I can see, the macro-levelissues have a limited impact. I come straight to inflation which is verymuch talked about by all. Look at inflation at the international level andinflation at the Indian level. Inflation at the Indian level, sometime back,had reached to a double digit. Of course, now, it has come down to 8per cent and odd and will continue like that. A lot has been talkedabout inflation. Sir, it is not occurring for the first time. Inflation is inexisting for quite a long time in India.Coming to price rise, as my colleagues have highlighted, theprices of essential commodities have gone up by leaps and bounds.How have they gone up from one week to another? The prices in thedomestic market have gone up like anything. For example, the price ofonion has gone up several times, potato has gone up by 44 per cent,primary articles have gone up by 9 per cent, pulses have increased by23 per cent, milk by 10 per cent, rice by 12 per cent, etc. In otherwords, the prices of essential commodities used by human being havegone up and up.(CONTD.
