122<strong>Uncorrected</strong>/ <strong>Not</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>publication</strong>- <strong>08.12.2009</strong>Member as to where we stand when it comes to G-20 and G-33, Iwould like to in<strong>for</strong>m the House that on the Margins of the WTOMinisterial in Geneva, which was not meant <strong>for</strong> substantive negotiationsbut to review the WTO functioning and also the global economic crisisand its adverse impact on the world trade, we had the meeting of theG-20 and the G-33. The G-20 and G-33 communiques are in publicdomain. We have taken a firm stand and categorical position when itcomes to both our position on agriculture and also on NAMA. Becauseon NAMA, Sir, we are talking of Non-Agricultural Market Access. Now,how do we safeguard our vulnerable industries in the developingcountries? There<strong>for</strong>e, the developing countries, again, as the principle ofspecial and differential treatment, are going to have flexibilities.Flexibilities in those sectors, those lines where we don't want to takeany tariff cuts. Those flexibilities shall be the sole discretion, on ourjudgement, as to which flexibilities we want to take, which are thesectors where we will not take cuts, zero cut.(Contd. by 2h-kgg)kgg/2H/1.45SHRI ANAND SHARMA (CONTD.): Again, the NAMA flexibilities principleis integral to the negotiations. Shri Rahul Bajaj had asked, and rightly so,about our position on sectorals. There was a Hong Kong Ministerialmeeting in 2005 which has taken some decisions, and it is clear thatsectorals will be non-mandatory <strong>for</strong> the developing countries and poorcountries. There cannot be any mandatory engagement by India, itscoalition partners, in sectorals which will figure in the agreement. We will
