Creating a PatchBooster 1&2, 3&4 (Booster Gain)When a Structure Type of TYPE 3 or TYPE 4 is selected, you canadjust the depth of the booster. The booster increases the inputsignal in order to distort the sound. This creates the distortion effectfrequently used with electric guitars. Higher settings will producemore distortion.Value: 0, +6, +12, +18BoosterThe Booster is used to distort the incoming signal.fig.06-024.eBooster levelRing ModulatorA ring modulator multiplies the waveforms of two tones witheach other, generating many new overtones (in harmonicpartials) which were not present in either waveform. (Unlessone of the waveforms is a sine wave, evenly-spaced frequencycomponents will not usually be generated.)As the pitch difference between the two waveforms changes theharmonic structure, the result will be an unpitched metallicsound. This function is suitable for creating metallic soundssuch as bells.fig.06-026In addition to using this to create distortion, you can use thewaveform (WG1) of one of the tones as an LFO which shifts theother waveform (WG2) upward or downward to createmodulation similar to PWM (pulse width modulation). Thisparameter works best when you use it in conjunction with theWave Gain parameter (p. 63).fig.06-025.eWG1WG2WG2Uses WG1 as LFOTVAAdds to WG1Adjusts WG1 outputBoosterDistorted area of theWaveform changesKey Fade Lower (Keyboard Fade WidthLower)This determines what will happen to the tone’s level when a notethat’s lower than the tone’s specified keyboard range is played.Higher settings produce a more gradual change in volume. If youdon’t want the tone to sound at all when a note below the keyboardrange is played, set this parameter to “0.”Value: 0–127Key Range Lower (Keyboard Range Lower)1Specifies the lowest note that the tone will sound for each tone.Value: C-1–UPPERKey Range Upper (Keyboard Range Upper)2Specifies the highest note that the tone will sound for each tone.Value: LOWER–G9Shift in waveform by WG1If you attempt to raise the lower key higher than the upper key,or to lower the upper key below the lower key, the other valuewill be automatically modified to the same setting.65
