Recording SongsCorrect the Timing of Your Playingas You Record (Recording Quantize)The Quantize function automatically corrects inaccuracies in thetiming of your keyboard or pad performance, aligning the notes toaccurate timing intervals. During realtime recording, you canquantize while you record.Set the following recording parameters in addition to the basicsettings described in step 3 of “Basic Operation for RealtimeRecording” (p. 170).Input QuantizeSpecify whether to quantize while recording.ValueOFF:GRID:fig.18-005.eQuantize will not be applied while recording.Grid Quantize will be applied while recording. Usethis when you want the timing to be accurate, suchas when recording drums or bass.Grid quantize with Resolution = Rate (Shuffle Quantize Rate)Make this setting when using Shuffle Quantize. It specifies thedegree to which the backbeat will be separated from the downbeatspecified by the Shuffle Resolution parameter. With a setting of“50%,” the backbeat will be exactly between adjacent downbeats. With a setting of “0%,” the backbeat will be moved to the sametiming as the preceding downbeat. With a setting of “100%,” thebackbeat will be moved to the same timing as the followingdownbeat.Value: 0–100Selecting the Sequencer Data thatwill Be Recorded (Recording Select)When you use realtime recording, all of your sequencer data willnormally be recorded. If you want to avoid recording a specific typeof data, you can turn its Recording Select setting “OFF.”1. Press [REC].2. Use or to select the sequencer data (MIDImessages) that will be recorded.Grid ResolutionMake this setting when you are using Grid Quantize. Specify thequantization interval in terms of a note value. Select the shortest notevalue that will occur in the range to which Grid Quantize will beapplied.Value: , , , , , ,Strength (Grid Quantize Strength)Make this setting when you are using Grid Quantize. It specifies thedegree to which notes will be adjusted toward the timing intervalsspecified by the Grid Resolution parameter. With a setting of“100%,” the notes will be corrected precisely to the timing of theGrid Resolution parameter. As you lower this setting, the notetiming will be corrected to a lesser extent, and with a setting of “0%”the timing will not be adjusted at all.Value: 0–100Shuffle ResolutionWhen you are using Shuffle Quantize, make this setting to specifythe note value used for quantization.Value: ,Note:Poly Aftertouch:Control Change:Program Change:Channel Aftertouch:Pitch Bend:System Exclusive:Note messages.
