Playing ArpeggiosAbout ArpeggioThe Fantom-X’s Arpeggio function lets you produce arpeggiosautomatically; simply hold down some keys, and a correspondingarpeggio will be played automatically.Not only can you use the factory-set Arpeggio Styles, whichdetermine the way the arpeggio is played, but you can also freelyrewrite Styles and enjoy performing your own original arpeggios.An Arpeggio Style is not part of any Performance, but ratherindependent data; you can store up to 128 Arpeggio Styles.Therefore you can use a single Arpeggio Style in different Patchesand Performances. Arpeggio settings can be saved independently foreach performance. However, they cannot be saved as part of a patch.What’s more, you can perform in ensemble using these arpeggiosand rhythm patterns (p. 135).* You cannot play the arpeggio from the pads.Playing ArpeggiosDetermining the Tempo forArpeggio PerformancesThis sets the arpeggio tempo. You can save the arpeggio temposettings individually in each Patch, Rhythm Set, or Performance.1. Press [TEMPO].fig.11-002_50The current tempo value appears in the display.2. Press VALUE dial or [INC], [DEC] to set the tempo value (5–300), or set the value by tapping [F6 (Tap)] a number oftimes with the same rhythm (Tap Tempo).* If you press [F7 (Click)] to light it in red, the click will sound.3. When you have made the setting, press [F8 (Close)].Turning Arpeggio On and Off1. To finish playing arpeggios, press [ARPEGGIO] again toturn it off.Tempo1. Press the REALTIME CONTROL button so the ARP/RHY indicator lights.2. Play an arpeggio, and turn the realtime control knob.In arpeggio settings, the Style (Arpeggio Style) (p. 129) isparticularly important. The playback pattern of the arpeggio isdetermined mainly by this selection.For details regarding each parameter, refer to“ArpeggioSettings” (p. 129).Using in Combination with the ChordMemory FunctionWhen performing with the Arpeggio, you can also use it alongwith the Chord Memory function (p. 133). After first storingcomplex Chord Forms in memory, you can then call them upwhen Arpeggio function is on, and you can easily play complexarpeggio sounds just by pressing a single key.Holding an ArpeggioBy using the following procedure, you can produce arpeggios evenwithout continuing to press the keyboard.1. Press [ARP HOLD].The indicator will begin blinking.2. Play a chord on the keyboard.3. If you play a different chord or notes while the arpeggio isbeing held, the arpeggio will change accordingly.4. To cancel Arpeggio Hold, press [ARP HOLD] once again.When Using a Hold PedalIf you play an arpeggio while pressing the hold pedal, the arpeggiowill continue to be played even if you release the chord.128
